Has this game changed feelings about Young?

honestly not really. He had a bad day but the entire team did tbh. O line had by far their worst game of the season.

I said in the last Bryce thread: it still remains TBD if he is a franchise guy, a good but not great starter or not the longterm answer.

Can't make that call after one week

Not really. I like Canales as a head coach but we need better play calling with better weapons. Every other game I see i just see quick hit throws that get good chunck RAC. And I just wonder why can't we have nice things

Here's the thing that bothered me about Canales play calling that bothered me. Olsen said it several times during the game. Why wasn't he calling play action more. Having Young in shotgun wasn't helping our running game and gave the defense time to tee off on Young.

I like Canales but play action needs to be more prevalent in our offense.

He needs to get his own DC in there plus relinquish play calling stick to being the head coach

We ran a ton with Dalton if you remember. Canales' offense is actually built around play action. Dave didn't run it more because it takes longer to develop and the pass rushers get there before throwing lanes can develop for Bryce to see. You can see this everytime he gets pressured he sprints out of the pocket to reset rather than stepping into it or resetting- not only is he being chased, his view is more obstructed than somebody like Dalton, Darnold, Cam, etc. PJ Walker used to do this too.

Every game that Bryce falters is another game that people will use to write the bust tag under his name.

Did Bryce have bad game?  Oh yeah, what a turd of a game.  He cannot put the ball on the ground that many times.  Did Bryce have a few good throws?  Yes he did, but the game got out of hand pretty quickly because of the turnovers, poor coverage of CeeDee Lamb, and poor run defense.

This game was a showcase of our lack of talent.  Even our vaunted OL got outmatched.  Mike Zimmer "got" Bryce.  We showed exactly why we are a 3-11 team heading for a top five pick.  We just have such a narrow margin of error being as bad as we are.

Do does that mean we should grab another QB?  Or pick the best player.  If Travis Hunter is there at 3, do you take a chance on a project QB like Cam Ward (decision making) or Sanders (ego/maturity)?  Both have more physical upside than Bryce, but both need time on the bench to learn how to play in the NFL.  To me, there's not a clear cut improvement from Bryce Young in the draft, and in FA, it's just going to be another band aid.  We don't have enough talent in other areas to give a veteran QB a chance to really shine.

So Canales is going to have to learn from this turd of a game, and Morgan is going to have to work on addressing these deficiencies.

Young is 4-23 as a starter.  He looks like a child playing a mans game.  He doesnt have the physical traits to be a nfl qb.  At some point its time to look in the mirror and admit this experiment has failed.

We just spent the past 3ish weeks of folks screaming "STAT WATCHER" when its patently clear Young cannot win in the nfl.  His wobbly duck throws, his lack of zip into windows, his sky high sideline passes, his crappy mechanics......all of that poo is too much to overcome.  Pull the plug and move on.
