Stroud had extremely good receivers last year. But he is also extremely good himself.  And the team he was drafted into was not high on talent overall...

His receivers were certainly talented. But when a passing game thrives like that it's due to a mutual progression. The right QB can make the right WR even better. See Nico Collins numbers before and after Stroud.

Yes the 2023 Texans on paper entering the season were by all accounts by most fans and media talking heads likely headed for another top 10 pick. This revisionist history that Houston was a top destination for a rookie QB is absurdly comical. If need be we can dig up some predraft threads. Hell I distinctly remember some folks here declaring Stroud a bust when he threw an interception in his first preseason game.

It's definitely comical. Nico Collins developed well with Stroud, along with the other receivers. But before that, posters here thought WE had a better roster on offense . This year, our OL is unquestionably better.

But yeah I'm not trying to slight Stroud by saying his receivers were very good. And I agree on that mutual development. Stroud has a chance to be one of the top handful of players at his position; I don't know his receivers are quite that good, but when healthy they are damn good

Honestly I think it’s better than we don’t compare the two. CJ Stroud was the gem of that draft class and the Texans got lucky. I just hope Young can develop into the QB we need him to be. I was ready to move on early in the year but something seems to have clicked with him which is promising. I hope he keeps it up and gets even better!
