I dont watch college football at all but I get into the draft reading all the scouting reports... I dont feel comfortable with Hunter..

1. I feel like its a luxury pick.
2. We have tried and failed with gimmicky players before. Im not saying they dont work but taking that type of player as high as he is supposed to go seems too rich for this team.

Honestly I think we should trade down, get a #1 pick next year. We have so many needs on defense we need a lot of bodies there. Trade down, set us up for next year and get bodies to compete.

Hunter is a good player, not the best at any one thing but good at a few.  To me drafting him in the top 5 is to high but I don’t think you can really consider him a gimmick player.  I have no doubt that in the right system he will excel in the NFL simply because he can play different positions but will probably never be the best at any of them.

He's not great at DB?

You can argue playing both ways slowed down his true potential at both positions. They rarely challenged him as a DB. The few times they did he either was making the INT or swatting the ball away. He also likes to tackle.

And based on the analysis I would agree with that.. I just think that is too rich of a thing to draft for this team.. we need to ether draft the best player at a specific position.. or trade down.

You have been banging the drum all season for Hunter.. do you see him as the best player to improve this team for next year?

Umm yes!

Best player and best defensive player in the draft. Remember Charles Woodson who had a similar skill set coming out of Michigan?

That's the kind of talent Hunter is. If he just focused on defense he's gonna be a playmaker on that side of the ball. He's the type of player who will not only get you takeaways, but he will be a threat to score points after the INT. We need that kind of playmaker on this defense desperately. Don't overthink it if Hunter is available draft him.

He's already said he won't focus just on the defensive side of the ball. That could be a problem for a team if he's set on being a WR too.

It doesn't matter what he wants. This is the NFL no player is bigger than the league. He's getting paid millions to play the game. If a team wants to draft him for a DB he will have to play just DB.

This idea that he can do both ways at the NFL level is just fun talk. I'm sure once he realizes these are grown men with families to feed he's gonna understand that's not possible. Also the speed of the game is much faster. He's not gonna last going both ways.

At best he has a package on offense maybe like 5 plays a game. Other than that he's not playing full time both ways imo.

Problem is if you use him at both , he is a rookie that has to learn the offence and the defence .

Most rookies take over a year to learn one.

It's a team game and they have to learn there place in the team.

That’s why you give him a 1a 1b situation. Either be a CB with gadget plays in the slot  on offense . Or be a wide out with nickel package for him in the slot on defense . It can be done . The kid the best talent in the draft . I love when teams overrated qb prospects . He will be on board with pick number 3. Just pray other teams win

I think Mason Graham needs to be the guy. That or we trade down to 7-10 and get a second rounder out of it. Derrick Brown desperately needs some help on that side of the ball and there's no guarantee he's going to be the same player when he gets back.

Would love TMac but we could sign another vet WR in FA that is ready to go and doesn't need development. Coker, XL, and Sanders are going to be key pieces going forward anyways. If Dionte Johnson wasn't a nutjob WR would be fine.

We also need the future a Center, Free Safety, and we also need to take the best kicker in the draft. No more fuging around with Eddie P. We need a stud.

I agree 💯. With the roster in the shape it’s in, especially on the defensive side, Hunter is a luxury pick. We have far too many needs that should br addressed in the upcoming draft.

    • Hang in there, my friend.  I think Tepper has learned he needs to be hands off the football operations.  I'm anxious to see what we do the rest of the season.  Have faith.
