Not sure how being bottom 10 in passing justifies so much confidence..

For anyone curious his new passer rating puts him right between Aiden O'Connell and Andy Dalton.

I'm happy he's improving but maybe we should keep things in perspective here.

O'Connell just had a game so ugly he got benched for Desmond Ridder. Andy Dalton was so bad we had to go back to Bryce. I mean to consider this is as good news for our first overall pick is a very low bar even for this franchise.

that's going to be a hard sell for some, but i'm buying it.

There's only four or five people left on here that poo on everything Bryce does so it's not that bad on here anymore. Hopefully he continues to improve his game. He's not an mvp candidate but he's playing better and deserves the chance to start next year.

The best thing for this team is Bryce playing well and showing he can be a good qb in the league so that we don't have to go back into qb purgatory

And Stroud is a 87.9. If he can get closer to Stroud it’s a win right? Look he is trending in the right direction. It’s encouraging. Hopefully he keeps it up and gets better.

Frank, that's the point. So do you really think Bryce has been playing just below "being benched" level? Honestly? That's what you see in the last 4 weeks? There are a LOT of things going on that he can't control and there are not 20 QBs playing better than Bryce in the NFL right now.

Stroud finished 6th in the NFL in passer rating as a rookie.

I want the same thing anyone else wants if Bryce is the QB of the future that's fantastic. But his body of work will be judged as if he is a first overall pick not some small school QB we took a mid to late round flyer on.

Let's just agree to disagree.

I also think the "eye test" is kinda weighted against Bryce's game.  If he's going to be great in this league his accuracy will have to make up for his disadvantages and reliably. It won't be as flashy as an Anthony Richardson highlight reel.

No one should be asking this if they watched him play at the start of the year. It wasn't just bad play it looked like he didn't know how to play QB at all.. this is lightyears better

He is light year better than he was.  But to say he is suddenly top 20 qb in the league is a far far stretch.  He is way way better thsn he was but still would put him where his qbr had him around 25th out of 32 qbs in nfl.  But he could improve just at this moment he is what he is.

And just an FYI. Kyle Allen had 255.5 yards per game in 2019. That would make him 6th in the NFL this season.

With that in mind would you agree it's worth noting that the comparative improvements Bryce Young has made the last 5 games as a passer are in the midst of what is clearly a rare down year for passing as a whole?

Umm ok but we are talking about recent play? I think Stroud is a great QB and if Young can get close to playing like him currently that’s a win IMO. Baby steps here.

    • Those would be the days of Julius Peppers. Peppers carried Sims and that became evident in the NFL. Don't get me wrong, he was a very good college player but he was a mid-round pick talent who looked like a top 10 picks with the opposing OL having to account for #49. The frustrating thing to me is that our D has often looked pretty decent for a game or two but ultimately the wheels just fall off and when they fall off they fall the fug OFF. Once the struggles start they just don't stop and we start getting absolutely gashed week in and week out.
    • To my point about the numbers T-Mac would have put up if he was there instead of Hunter T-Mac had 84 rec, 1,319 yds, 8 TDs Hunter had 92 rec, 1,152 yds, 14 TDs Shedeur had 1,000 more yards and 17 more TDs than T-Mac's QB... on only 24 more attempts on the entire season. The 2nd highest receiving yardage by any Arizona player was a WR with 323 yards, after that it was a RB with 245 and a TE with 217... nobody else had over 196. Colorado had WRs with 880, 617, 617, 434, 277, and 216 Arizona had 10 receiving TDs other than T-Mac... Colorado had 21 other than Hunter T-Mac also only had 5% more of Arizona's catches than Hunter had, so it's not like you can say T-Mac's numbers are because of volume.  They spread the ball around plenty, but there was nobody else who could make plays or even scare the defense into not sending extra guys T-Mac's way.   Put him in that offense with a better QB, scheme, and other WRs to make sure he can't be double or tripled on every single snap, the numbers he'd have put up would have been absolutely crazy and people would be talking about him as the second coming.
