Agreed, but dare I say his confidence seems to have added a couple of inches to his stature, lol

This is funny but kind of true his play and confidence makes him look like he’s 6’2 I can’t even make my get his JV azz off the team jokes nowadays m. I’m being realistic with myself and others like this kid can go toe to toe with any QB in the league. Add his Tyrek Hill or Stef Diggs or Jamar Chase all WRs that helped elevate their QB to the next level. And tell me what he does then.

He means playoffs and yeah, the games right now are meaningless in that respect.

lol no playoffs means meaningless how much football do you or him really know. Nothing in the NFL is meaningless your always coaching from the top head coach to position coaches your always coaching for your job. Everything matters you’re playing for your job every we’ll dam bear every play. Your evaluated on a weekly basis wether you’re going to the playoffs or home you better put good film on tape every opportunity you get but this convo is for serous football fans and yall think teams out the playoff race don’t care yea a chance to secure a multi million dollar contract secure financial freedom for you and your family establish a legacy a name a rep for your play doesn’t matter they’re coasting because they’re not in the playoff race yea I can tell who’s stat sheet checking and who really watched the game with a solid understanding of how the NFl works.

Everybody will talk about his stats, but they don't realize the clutch throws and situations he was faced with over the past 3-4 weeks. How many crucial 3rd or 4th down throws did he make just to keep the drive alive? He has given the team a chance to tie or win the game in the last 5 mins of each game. If Panthers would have won the game on a 98 yd drive, that would be the stuff of legends! What's most exciting about Bryce's play is that he has been clutch when we needed it, other teammates have failed him with drops, fumbles, missed XP. If he continues to play like this, it's going to be exciting to watch Panthers football again.

He's made a lot of very small improvements that have all added up together to create what we are seeing now

- His mobility is shining more than it ever has because he's trusting the pocket the OL creates for him (most of the time).  Instead of drifting backwards when the pressure comes, he either stays mostly level with the LOS (or makes sure he gets back to that point) or steps up and through the pressure.  We saw this on the 3rd down when he was facing a safety.  Bryce from a year ago or Week 1 ABSOLUTELY takes that sack.  Instead, he steps up and weaves through the pressure and gets level with the LOS before making the throw.  This is such a big difference that if you haven't been watching Bryce, you wouldn't think anything of it.

- As a result, we are also getting more rushing production from Bryce.  He's ran for 20+ in 3 of the last 4 and in the one game he didn't, he ran for 17 and a score.  His decisiveness on these kind of plays has made the biggest difference

- Just his willingness to push it downfield and understanding sometimes it is better to give your WRs a chance even if the risk of an INT is high.  His interception yesterday was terrible, make no mistake about it.  But it is nice to see him take that risk

- He keeps his eyes down the field when he moves out of the pocket.  As a huge Bryce Young fan coming out of Alabama, one reason I defended him for so long (and lowkey am starting to regret hopping off the train - gotta trust your gut) is because at his absolute worst, he should be one of the NFL's elite escape artists.  Yet we never really got that because for, he seemed incapable of scrambling and keeping his eyes on the routes developing.  We're really seeing the Bryce that we saw at Alabama

With all that said, I'm still a bit skeptical.  His accuracy is still very concerning at times.  A few of his plays went into the dirt yesterday and had a few other misses.  Still, his decision-making and playmaking have been top-notch since returning to the line-up.

How I see things, this year is his true rookie season. Most of what the prior staff taught him is probably of little value now and his 2023 on-field experiences - if anything - taught him more bad habits than good. It's almost as though BY needed to flush all that out of himself and start all over again. That's why I'm not obsessing about raw numbers because he is still very much learning how to play the game properly with just enough good pieces around him that he can make something out of it.

Bottom line - Bryce has shown he can be a playmaker and not just a game manager.  His recent performances with game on the line show that.

Bryce Young recent game-winning drive attempts:

  • vs. Saints: 3:26 remaining in the 4th. 4 plays, 64 yards, go-ahead TD.
  • vs. Chiefs: 3:21 remaining in 4th. 5 plays, 49 yards, game-tying TD and two-point conversion.
  • vs. Bucs: 3:05 remaining in 4th. 9 plays, 60 yards, go-ahead TD. Then went 25 yards in 4 plays in OT to set up game-winning field goal before Chuba lost a fumble.
  • vs. Eagles: 2:58 remaining in 4th. 13 plays, 45 yards, go-ahead TD dropped by Legette.

You can't ask for much more than this.

We used to have a QB that did stuff like this a lot. In fact, one of the reasons I became a fan of this team.

Not going to declare we've gone full circle yet but I'd be lying if it doesn't feel like a blast from the past.

But but but stats! 190 yards! Only 1 td! He didn't carry my fantasy team!

Stats....

I kind of get it. His stats haven’t been impressive so I would also wonder a bit. He’s clearly playing with confidence and making throws in the past 5 games that we have not ever seen him do last year and to start this year. He’s leaps beyond that guy.

That said, our D has played very, very well, especially in getting drive stops. Tampa and Philly are solid offenses and we held them both to around 20 points. KC’s offense has been meh this year but their D has been solid. I’d love to see Young in a Baltimore/Cincy or Detroit game where he’s having to put up 30-40 to win.

That interception before half cost us the game against Philly as much as Legette’s drop. Game went from maybe a 6-10 point halftime lead to down by 4. That was his worst throw in his awakening and I’d want to see him tested more like that where we have to come from behind by 10-14+ and he has to carry the team. The D and running game have been solid for the most part and we’ve been tied/had leads most of the last 5 games.

Shannon Sharpe on First Take

"This is not the same Carolina Panthers team as it was earlier in the season"

You telling me you can't earn respect and still lose games?

We can play with anybody in this league. You say Bryce isn't a franchise QB and I'm like why not. He's proving it with a limited roster against the best teams in the NFL.

Great job complete misunderstanding what I said and for writing the most horrible wall of text I have ever seen.
When people say the games meaningless they mean they are for their team making the playoffs. Which the games are.
Yes they are not meaningless when it comes to the team as a whole. Every rep counts even if winning the game doesn’t mean playoffs.
Dude learn to use paragraphs and punctuation. You walk of text will become way more readable. Even though from what I can read you are a gatekeeping on his high horse fan.

Oh I completely understood exactly what you stated. I’ll type very professional for you to clearly read.

You're doing what most call moving the goal post. We wanted to see Bryce play well vs very good defenses correct? We wanted to see growth, development, and situational football ie game on the line we need to drive 80 yards score a td to win.

He's literally checked every box in his assessment chart now you’re asking to see it done in the playoffs. Unbelievable change of course worse part is you’re acting as if we were playing in a playoff game he’d all of sudden sht the bed. Like be f…..ng for real if that happened to be the case we'd assess it like other QBs oh it’s his first trip to the playoffs give him a chance to learn from his experience.|

It’s kind of ridiculous after we’ve seen drastic improvement in all areas of his game you now choose to say let’s see it when the games aren’t meaningless. And by meaningless you mean the games are playoff situations something we’re far from qualified for or something that doesn’t even matter we only want to see if Bryce was a QB that can perform in this league or do we need to draft a QB in the upcoming draft. And now we’ve been shown multiple weeks of that he’s more then capable, and your new concern is can he do it in the playoffs you’re right I can’t comprehend a moving goal post continuously when it comes to evaluating our QB.

The games have been very meaningful for our opponents the last 3 weeks
