Jonathan Brooks injury

"Historically bad hands" is hyperbolic.

He was tied for seventh in the league in drops before today (on the second-fewest targets). He's better suited for being a kick returner and the fact that whenever he drops the kickoff it'll likely just be a touchback. That said, yeah, there's some hyperbole in there.

Fingers crossed it’s not drastic. He was a great change up to Hubbard.

He was? We got 9 carries for 22 yards this year from him. How was he anything to Hubbard?

If he rushed for 100 yards yall would be slurping his nutz

But he didn’t and last time he tore his ACL it was November. Now it will be December, so if it’s bad, we basically will have gotten nothing for years 1 and 2 and he’ll be an even bigger injury risk the next time he steps on the field.

It was a bad pick, especially considering the deep 2025 RB class and the number of RBs from Brooks’ draft class that have done better as day 3 picks.

Man, I hope Brooks is OK.  I don't know.  A lot of y'all are poo pooing him for getting hurt again.  It's football.  Guys get hurt all the time.  The timing sucks for him and us, but that's how it works.

Brooks looked really good last week.  I hope it was more out of an abundance of caution, but I don't expect to see him play the rest of the season.

As far as XL, he's in his own head.  He's a rookie receiver.  It happens.  There are growing pains for most rookie receivers in some way, shape, or form.  It's not worth getting upset and labeling him a bust.  Now if he's doing this stuff in 2 years, then that's completely fair.

It doesn't change that fact that the Panthers still have plenty of work to do on both sides of the ball.

Its funny... a lot of people on the board celebrate the loss, cause they want a better draft pick, but then crap on the Brooks pick because he got injured..

Like you would think that those same people would be happy that he's heading to IR as it reduces the chance of us winning games while brining a talented player back next year..

I don't think they are really crapping on brooks as a personal thing.  Its the fact that he was a luxury pick when we had holes everywhere.  It's the fact that good running backs are regularly found on day 3.  It's the fact he was coming off a pretty big injury and wasn't going to be available, and last of all it's the fact that  it makes us nervous that getting earlier draft picks may not benefit us because Morgan may pick the wrong players again anyways.  All that adds up to a lot of angst.  I don't think anyone is mad at Brooks or happy he got hurt.  In the end the anger has nothing to do with him really.

Yes. Mark it down, sharpie. Xavier Legette will go down as another failed first-round pick. Dude cannot catch, he has historically bad hands, and the only reason he gets a pass is his accent.

Well and he can get open. I've seen him burn many guys unlike some of these busts you mention were able to. If his hands can improve he could be a solid contributor. Look at the dropped TD catch he could have had. He does a solid job of getting open which we needed. His hands issue could be improved if it focused on.

I laughed myself no way to even really talk football when your assessment of what he will be is complete 13 games into your rookie season.

This exactly. He can get open and proven to be able to unlike many we have had which is something that was needed so if he can get the dropsies worked through and improve those hands (which will just take extra work on his part) the guy should be fine. People are so quick to label "bust" immediately in a rookie season it seems.

Yeah we had people on here with absolute certainty labeling Bryce a bust last year. Someone was labeling Sanders a bust 3 games in this year. XL definitely isn't a bust yet but he needs to call up Curtis Samuel and spend all offseason doing the jug gauntlet. Samuel was probably one of the best turnarounds I've seen of someone who couldn't catch, getting it fixed.

I don't discredit his ability to get open. He's deceptively fast for his size. But he has to bring in more of these passes and finish the catch.
