Can they keep this Sunday close too?

There's a few things that need to happen:

1. Turnovers - Run D isn't going to magically play better and so this is the alternative

2. Run the Ball - For all the talk about the Eagles D, they did give up 160+ rushing yards against the Ravens last game. If there's a time to attempt a new Double Trouble with Hubbard and Brooks, this is the game. Also, Young may need to use his legs more to pick up yards. Basically, we're trying to outpossess the Eagles to limit exposing our run D as much as we can.

3. Breakout game - If we're passing, then XL/JT/Coker are going to need a breakout game. If BY can play as he has been recently, those balls better be caught.

No matter what happens, I'm just hoping for another solid, promising performance from Bryce against the #1 defense. If he throws 1-2 TD without any INTs or big mistakes then we know this is the real Bryce. They will probably be up 1-2 scores early and I hope he just doesn't try to be the hero and make silly mistakes and it ruins his confidence again.

If he is so fragile that one bad game ruins his confidence, then he is not the QB we need.

That's like, your opinion,  man.

I know you’re referencing Lebowski, but who has fuged up bigger in a crucial situation than Chuba this year? No one. We’re not counting Bryce early in the year bc we were not in a position to win those games.

It it was a playoff game, it would be the worst play in franchise history over Kasey’s fugup in SB 38

I have no idea how we’d keep it close

We can’t stop the run and that’s what the Eagles do best

on the other side of the ball they have a great defense at all levels and we have the worst group of pass catchers in the league

Exactly it.

Panthers have gotten better, but we're simply at too much of a scheme and talent disadvantage.  What we do worst (defend the run) is what we the Eagles are best at (run the ball).  We also don't have an obvious weakness or advantage that we can depend on.  Eagles have the defensive line to bottle our run game and none of our WRs can win on an island vs their CBs.

This is the kind of game where it will be really difficult to blame the HC for how things go.  Obviously try not to lose by 50, but I'm just not sure you can reasonably expect us to keep this game close.

I just don't care. The game NEVER should have came down to the overtime period.

You focus on what you want.

It means nothing.

Bingo this sht is spot on, turnovers if not us running the ball effectively will do wonders and Bryce scurrying around keeping us moving forward even for a couple yards on 2&10 making 3&6 a very obtainable down and distance.

But number 3 would really move the needle for me if anyone of the three can have a breakout game vs this defense it could propel their development towards being a force for next season.

I had to quote p claw because below because he fuged up once literally once but Eddy P fuged up twice in the same game those kicks were probably more of a problem then Chubbas fumble honestly you understand a RB will fumble selectively with the amount of carriers he typically gets. But your kicker is supposed to do his job when given opportunity if he misses one ok but we definitely expect him to hit a dam 38 yarder hit that game ovaaa  he fuged us way harder then Chubba if you put it into football perspective

But it did.  And that play was the backbreaker.

it doesn’t matter what any fan really focuses on, but it does mean something for Chuba. Hope he learns from it.

You do it to well. Wouldn't want to put you out of work.

Chubba feels terrible about it.

It doesn't even get rated at all ass any worse play in the history of the Panthers.

+13.5 is wild. I think we cover that.

Still suspect a double digit loss.

I think its moved to 12.5 now. But I agree. I think it depends on whether or not they keep the foot on the gas. Obviously I hope for a win, but I just can't see it. This is absolutely our worst matchup this season. This will be the game that makes us go defense first round (and almost every other round) if we weren't already. Honestly I am starting to think they draft graham. I think Dan will fall in love with him.

    • I'm with you.  Even an extra 3rd would help.  None of the players you listed are elite though.  Sadly there are very few of those in this draft, but there are a lot of good players in the late first and into the second. We need to realize that we can't get all our needs in this year's draft.  We know we need some sort of edge, a safety, and I feel we need to use one of first 4 picks on a CB, preferably 3rd at latest.  And I want to draft an OT in 3rd to learn behind Moton this year. The extra 2nd would be huge.  2 things Bear Hands has noted in other threads, we can get a rusher in the mid rounds of the first, and if a good LT is available at our pick we should be able to get a deal. I'm ok.  If the media takes are close, trading back to around 15 should get us a second, and since our second is near the end of that round, getting one earlier opens up a whole lot of opportunities.  Either way, Canales builds his infrastructure with this draft.  Next year, with all our picks and probably picking somewhere between 10 and 15, we can get real stars.   All of this depends on hitting on picks this year.
    • You got the gist of his main issue. He plays LB or whatever on D, but hates to tackle and contact. That's the summary.  I normally have a wide margin of " Hey vet min/bring him for try out/maybe he changed/etc etc". But he can not be trusted, * but he did just have his "best" season. He's like those RB that refuse to run between the tackles, bounce everything outside...they too are scared of contact. That's like the whole point of NFL, he's able to trick and athlete his way for 5 years, props to him and his agent.  Me personally I view him like virus, I wouldn't want him on film shying away from hitting while the rookies&UDFA are looking for how the Panthers do things. Plus Im the biggest sucker there is about giving former 1st, 2nd, etc another chances. Just not someone who doesn't want to play NFL and fools those with his god given gifts.  ____________________________________________________________   \ Not to add another layer to this, but I feel contact and hitting its the biggest problem for the NFL. I sorta agree with TEs, WRs, and RBs either going out of bounds or falling to the ground to avoid a solid hit(this goes out the window for 1st downs, SB, etc.) Like if a WR caught a deep slant and already gained 17 yards, but here comes a safety with a great angle, Im all for that WR to fall on the ground...... ugh...... But I think the opposite for my defense. I feel this topic is central sun hot and NFL has done a great job in avoiding it. Im surprised NFL is still allowed, I have huge doubts in the future.
    • not sure if carolina picks a WR in this draft, they have some young WR already and will let them develop. Need another vet imo.  I think carolina is going to pass more to the RB's this coming season, look for them to move heaven and earth for Cam Skatteboo.  I really hope they go TE Warren in the 1st. That would add another dynamic to this offense.
