Catch what should have been an incredible TD if the refs did their job, and his actual TD catch should have sealed the game with an even remotely competent defense

Just finished up and he absolutely gave Thielen his flowers in this one for once. Even commented he thought that it was a catch in the end zone.

    Hinge up top vs. quarters outside the numbers with anticipation. Drives the ball. Outstanding job. As long as the flat defender isn't buzzing out you've got the 14yd hinge free vs. cover 4. Doesn't like the hesitation move by XL during the route, says that looks more like some "19" stuff. Makes sure that AT catches an immediate stray, so he's aware of the memes lol. Also says outside the numbers with the way the DB is leveraged you can get nearly anything out to the sideline. Isn't throwing a 95mph fastball, but the way he plays makes it not matter (translation: plays with anticipation).
     
  • Q2 14:15. 2nd & 11 on the CAR 23
    Doesn't care much for the formation (diamond) but appreciates the motion. Thought it was like a play for Tua in Miami. Overall great design and execution as the motion out of the backfield is designed to draw the defender away from XL as he goes up the seam and settles.
     
  • Q2 13:34, 2nd & 10 on the CAR 37
    Makes another anticipation throw, this time on a deep comeback route that gets dropped. Starts throwing the ball while the WR runs another 5yds upfield and delivers a dot. Highlights how Bryce's anticipation is what allows him to compete without having a cannon that he can laser balls downfield with.
     
  • Q3 13:28, 3rd & 10 on CAR 37
    Bryce Young extending the play vs. double mug. Escapes to the right and throws to the flat for the chunk play to Tremble. Takes another shot at AT by calling his in route a route on a "snow day but inside on turf." Had a defender driving on the flat but has the feel to put it over the top to Tremble who starts breaking downfield seeing Bryce rollout. Big play on 3rd down made off script with a guy coming right at him.

Finished the video, another good performance from Bryce with a ton of the positives we are seeing by standing tall in the pocket and delivering strikes while taking a shot from an unblocked defender. The throw over Vita Vea barreling down on him was quite special even though Moore dropped it. So much to build on here going forward all of the sudden.

Glad JT went over the play where Bryce seemingly "overthrew" XL in the back corner of the end zone. He thought it was a good pass, but XL was too deep in the end zone to give himself any room to make a play. I still argue he didn't have to jump how he did but nonetheless he seems to always give his receivers a chance which is super encouraging. The Bryce Young "Point Guard" playmaker is showing up on a tape and the shocking turnaround from Bust to Professional QB upswing continues.

Yeah maybe in a playoff push season I'm upset he doesn't go all out for that. For this season it can slide, JT always harps on how a QB should react to an INT/Fumble on film. I've seen him go after other guys in similar situations. Either way we all know Chuba has to hold on to the ball in that situation.

Just finished the video.

He was complimentary of Bryce but pointed out where he needs improvement. You guessed it, it's his footwork. He isn't planting his cleats to get power out of the rotation in his motion, but continues to have throws where he's on his toes and generating power only from the arm.

That said, there were a couple of throws in the film where he had good mechanics and delivered strikes, so it looks like the staff is continuing to emphasize that.

Also mentioned how Bryce adding the ability to extend plays is another reason for the turnaround.

Positive signs continue from #9 over the last few weeks.

As far as the receivers, and I agree here, still too many dropped balls and routes are not crisp.

Moore is a JAG and should be allowed to walk once Coker is back in the lineup. XL is still a big work in progress in the route running department. I think we have to address WR in the draft again this offseason...

awesome to see Bryce getting better, still a lot to improve which makes me excited to see him reach his ceiling over the next few years

      Philly's defense is great and they run the ball a lot and control the TOP (and they certainly will vs us - this is a big mismatch), so even if Bryce is at his best, I doubt he would have a chance to crack 300 passing yards.  Be damn impressive if he does though, but it all just depends on volume, efficiency, and most importantly... not turning the ball over.

      Even with Cam I don't think it would have been a hard sell. He always loomed larger than life, but most people that understand football understand the reality of the game. One wrong hit, one wrong step, and a career can be over. It's the thing I've been frustrated about most with every GM we've ever had, including Morgan to this point. We never really developed the QB room. We relied on our starters and when Jake and Cam fell apart, so did the franchise. That's the one position that you can't really afford not to develop a plan B, but we do it with regularity. Dalton wasn't supposed to be a serious threat to Bryce's job and Jack was never a threat to be anything at all. JMO, but we should always have a young guy we're trying to keep on the bench with at least 2 years in the system. If they're not getting it, move on, but always keep rotating guys through. It seems like 2-3 years really is the magic point for QBs to either get a handle or not. It's probably not going to happen, but I'd really like to see that 3rd QB emergency slot become a permanent place to work on developing young QBs. I think it could benefit every team in the league because it's so hard to carry 3 QBs on the roster with all the turn over during the season due to injuries.

      Agreed which is why I mentioned it and framed it as being certainly an eat crow moment for a lot of people myself included. I'd love to see him shock the league like that. I think the direction the conversation went immediately after is a prime example of how the topic of Bryce Young in general has become so bitter and contentious. The fanbase is split between people who want to see him look like a first overall pick over the course of multiple starts and not just against inferior defenses and people who apparently have low expectations and are just fine with him not looking horrific. But that's not how the NFL works and that's not why we drafted him.
