What Exactly Caused Bryces Turnaround?

Short time line-

BY named starter, first games Bates ruins his ability to throw mid-deep after 2 INTs. Each week he is under pressure from a bad OL. His coaches call 90% play calls as if BY cannot throw past the LOS. By seasons end, his confidence is shot.

2024 starts he's still shell shocked and done menially. Dave benched him and a small part of him is upset. Dalton shows him this is the NFL and the OL has greatly improved, don't be scared about mistakes and make the throws like you do in practice. BY starts to understand and doesn't overthink, each week he's figuring it.

Props- I had him done and he's having one of the biggest turns in NFL history. Im not on the BY train and still hoping FO brings in other legit QBs. Still he's no longer the clear 32nd rank QB each week, if his limit is average play against good-great defensives, Ill take it.

That fuger has made start to rethink his weapons, cause..........ugh........ If this is the type QB he is........ AT and XL and whatever the "hot" TE it is not close enough to level of talent. That's my biggest take from this- mingo and Johnson(panthers #1) were traded, TEs are hit by injuries, AT comes in by the 3rd game into 5 game....... fuging 30 year old multiple teams David Mooore is best option??

Still remember listening to the Locked on Panthers podcast the day after that game and Julian said that Bryce had mentioned he didn't bother to look off Bates on one of those INTs. That always struck me as an odd thing.

I truly think Bates broke him. He is one of those pros that lives in the video room studying, he's like another ed reed.

BY should have not started, but the NFL has decided no matter if they are ready or not, they must start and nearly 95% struggle and never get over it.

I'm very optimistic about Young and hope he continues to improve.

What I like.

Seems to be trusting the play and getting the ball out quickly.

Trusting his weapons and those weapons seem to be improving with him.

He has a good offensive line and this must be our number one priority as long as Young is our QB.

His height is not much of a problem. Equal amount of batted balls.

His confidence grows each week.

What concerns me.

Will defenses figure out Young and he reverts back to his old self.

Would still like to see him stretch the field more often.

This is just a string of good luck.

One thing being reported is that the play calls come in really early so he has plenty of time to look at the defense, still “talk to” Canales etc. Just one thing, but I can see it making a difference

Interesting because even as late as the Broncos game this year, delay of game penalties has been a nagging issue. Wonder if Canales has been working in this area.

It's all mindset. He is not playing afraid and he seems to play like he no longer cares if he is benched forever and traded away or not. He gained confidence in himself and the right mindset can overcome almost anything at all including size limitations in certain situations when the particular person in question is mentally tough enough and believes in themselves enough.

That benching somehow has helped him and brought out his best. I'm curious to see how he does the rest of the season as he has most definitely earned the job for the rest of the season for a good proper evaluation on his future with this team. He now has potential and is now developing. If you forget last season and only look at this one you would say he has a world of potential. His story is not written yet and I had all but given up on him. He has started to beat the odds and I'm happy as can be for him and hope he can continue to grow like this with each game this season then go bust his ass working hard in the off-season. He must keep up this momentum and keep this new mindset he has developed with his more aggressive style of play. Nothing more I would love than to be proven wrong by him.

I honestly think his struggles were a case of Bryce thinking way too much. CJ just showed up and balled out last year and was very loose. Bryce seemed to be in his head every week overthinking everything, which made him look very indecisive and not confident at all. The benching seemed to allow him to breathe and reset. Hes always been labeled as a very cerebral qb and I think that can actually be a detriment if you overthink every little thing.

I also think that he was being overloaded with "coaching" last year that was not on the same page. That set him back right out of the gate.

This time around I think Canales and his crew are in agreement and are letting Bryce be who he is and not who anyone wants him to be. He gave Young time to think it over while watching a vet show him how play on time and on script. And if he doesn't get it done he will bench his ass. So far so good.
