What does the rule say now?  Isn’t  there something about control but the ball can move? Idk someone edumicate me plz.

Quote

COMPLETED OR INTERCEPTED PASS

A player who makes a catch may advance the ball. A forward pass is complete (by the offense) or intercepted (by the defense) in the field of play, at the sideline, or in the end zone if a player, who is inbounds:

a. secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and

b. touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands; and

c. after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, performs any act common to the game (e.g., tuck the ball away, extend it forward, take an additional step, turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so.

Notes:

Movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control.
If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds
A receiver is considered a player in a defenseless posture (See 12-2-7) throughout the entire process of the catch and until the player is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent.
If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.
If a player, who is in possession of the ball, is held up and carried out of bounds by an opponent before both feet or any part of his body other than his hands touches the ground inbounds, it is a completed or intercepted pass. It is not necessary for the player to maintain control of the ball when he lands out of bounds.
ARTICLE 4. INCOMPLETE PASS
Any forward pass (legal or illegal) is incomplete and the ball is dead immediately if the pass strikes the ground or goes out of bounds. An incomplete pass is a loss of down, and the ball returns to the previous spot.

Note: If there is any question whether a forward pass is complete, intercepted, or incomplete, it is to be ruled incomplete.

so basically it's still a bit subjective. refs interpret it. don't expect that to be done fairly or consistently.

    • Clemson was a big deal back then. The problem is their history wasn't deep enough playing at that championship level. There is no history with Clemson besides Dabo and that's my point. Clemson doesn't have that history to back them up as a rich powerhouse school.
    • I wasn't going to mention it, but watching The Herd and the guest brought up how Bryce is playing better than Stroud this season since he came back from the benching. Also brought up how he is doing it with a limited roster. Cowherd also praised Morgan for how they handled Bryce. They ended the segment saying we have our franchise QB.   Fellas we are getting respect for a change and I fuggin love it!   Keep balling Bryce prove the doubters wrong.
    • I don't think we are having the same convo though.  What the ACC was and will be has nothing to do with my point.  If Clemson and SC had identical resumes.  Today.  Right now.  They didn't play each other in this make believe scenario.  The CFP likely puts Clemson in over them.  And that doesn't have anything to do with ACC or SEC.   The reason they would be putting Clemson in over them.....matters.  That's my point.  Not saying it should.  But it does.  It's why Bama is where they are today too.  And no schedule tinkering changes that element.   It's an eyeball/money game.  Who can get the most eyeballs outside of where you exist.  If you spawned into the universe in 2020.....and had to list the 2 best teams programs in college football are.  It was Bama and Clemson.   And you probably had to put Clemson ahead.  That wasn't long ago.   And If you were a teen then, then you still are a youngster.
