What does the rule say now?  Isn’t  there something about control but the ball can move? Idk someone edumicate me plz.

Quote

COMPLETED OR INTERCEPTED PASS

A player who makes a catch may advance the ball. A forward pass is complete (by the offense) or intercepted (by the defense) in the field of play, at the sideline, or in the end zone if a player, who is inbounds:

a. secures control of the ball in his hands or arms prior to the ball touching the ground; and

b. touches the ground inbounds with both feet or with any part of his body other than his hands; and

c. after (a) and (b) have been fulfilled, performs any act common to the game (e.g., tuck the ball away, extend it forward, take an additional step, turn upfield, or avoid or ward off an opponent), or he maintains control of the ball long enough to do so.

Notes:

Movement of the ball does not automatically result in loss of control.
If a player, who satisfied (a) and (b), but has not satisfied (c), contacts the ground and loses control of the ball, it is an incomplete pass if the ball hits the ground before he regains control, or if he regains control out of bounds
A receiver is considered a player in a defenseless posture (See 12-2-7) throughout the entire process of the catch and until the player is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent.
If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both players retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control. If the ball is muffed after simultaneous touching by two such players, all the players of the passing team become eligible to catch the loose ball.
If a player, who is in possession of the ball, is held up and carried out of bounds by an opponent before both feet or any part of his body other than his hands touches the ground inbounds, it is a completed or intercepted pass. It is not necessary for the player to maintain control of the ball when he lands out of bounds.
ARTICLE 4. INCOMPLETE PASS
Any forward pass (legal or illegal) is incomplete and the ball is dead immediately if the pass strikes the ground or goes out of bounds. An incomplete pass is a loss of down, and the ball returns to the previous spot.

Note: If there is any question whether a forward pass is complete, intercepted, or incomplete, it is to be ruled incomplete.

so basically it's still a bit subjective. refs interpret it. don't expect that to be done fairly or consistently.

    • Clemson fan? I played 5 years for their number 1 rival then returned years later to train and work with players at my alma mater who is their biggest rival in existence. I was brought up to hate Clemson and everything about that god awful orange they wear. In my time back I have seen Lawrence up close and personal more times than I wanted from just a few feet away dismantle my boys. I trained guys to try to tear him apart so I wouldn't say I'm a Clemsux fan at all. I'm not gonna have a whining match about who said what and don't care. I shared my perspective initially and you said I was wrong so I responded with you are wrong and why. I also have a comparison just because I can't stand Deion from some past interactions I've had with him and I know you worship his narcissistic behind the scenes psychotic toxic manipulative ass so I thought I would share with you that your boy Shedeur has been stat padding in a weak conference with daddy behind him setting everything up for the Shedeur show and unless some NFL team hires him to be the coach he is going to have one hell of a wake up call in the NFL guaranteed. I have t seen that exact scenario played out but I've seen so many similar situations play out at the high school then college level that this formula they have going is an ending recipe for a rough wake up call and disaster which truly is not fair to his son. I met Shedeur when he was much younger and he seemed to be a very nice young man so I hope it is not such but from what I've seen personally and then over the past number of years on television he will have a very tough transition.  But you are the expert my brotha and this is your goat to jump into submission so I tap out and yield to you on that debate saying only we shall see in the end. Trevor Lawrence is far from done and that dude has some of the sickest skills I have ever witnessed and that is with saying I have stood up close and personal to some amazing NFL talent when in college. He is right there at the very top of the bets of the best of the best I have seen. Skills he does not lack and it goes long past the look of having the height.
    • Cam could definitely do it, just not consistently. His default was to throw smoke but when he did put touch on it, it could be a sight to behold.
    • Carter is 252, Ersery is 330+ Carter is actually bigger than Micah Paraons was coming out if you go back and look.   Abdul is still too small if you’re going to put him on the line in a 4-3.   But as a 3-4 OLB he is about the avg size for those guys in the league.  It’s all dependent on the system the team is running depending on how you grade him.
