Speaking of Thielen catches, the one he made just before the fumble was ffing amazing.

For those that think he should be cut for someone younger, well that is beyond foolish.

One of the best catches I’ve ever seen a panthers player make. I bet Thielen wishes he was on another team though

Potentially had THE best catch of the year, only to be a footnote and forgotten because we Panthered our way into another L because Chuba decided it wasn't necessary to hold the ball with two hands going up the middle. Who am I kidding, Eddy was going to miss that FG anyway, because thats what the Panthers do.

And yes, that was the easiest call you could overturn. It had everything; knee down, elbow down, laces on the ball didn't move=ball controlled to the ground. This sh*t gets fuggin old. Cotchery caught that fuggin ball. Answer me this, do they overturn that call if it was the Chiefs? I think we all know the answer to that. I just want fair calls for ALL teams, but Vegas has ruined sports.

I think Mr Scott was just referring to Thielen being a veteran presence who doesn't have super speed, but knows how to get open and makes the clutch catches, and not so much to the skill levels of the individual players.

And Proehl had two really good receivers beside him (Steve Smith and Moose).  Thielen is going to get more targets because the rest of the receiving group isn't at that level.

I’m sure he is, but my point still stands. Proehl was never on Thielen’s level. Thielen’s produced even as a number 2 for years. Proehl wasn’t the top WR in Arizona his best year as a young player and had 877 yards on a team that had over 3600 yards passing. Thielen at 33 had over 1000 yards on a Panthers team that had 3200 yards passing. Thielen had 5 seasons better than Proehl’s career best season. Thielen may look similar but he’s more athletic (2 amazing catches yesterday) and contributing more IMHO than Proehl ever did for us. Not bashing Proehl but the most similar thing between the two is just the skin color. If you look at PFR, Thielen is way more comparable to Muhammad in looking at 17 game averages. Muhammad just played 45 more games.

Thielen is a stud, period. He’s still that dude. That grab was the best catch I’ve ever seen a panther make, even over McCaffery’s or Greg’s.

Can the he’s old and washed up narrative please just die? This is a different offense with him on the field. He draws a lot of respect from opposing defenses and they know that he will beat you if you give him a chance.

Thielen still has a decent amount left in the tank. He's far from washed, and plays like yesterday, or even the Raiders TD where he hurt himself show that. He's the vet presence we need to keep around next year, because then...

Sign Higgins or draft TMac

Thielen

XL

Coker

JT/Tremble/FA TE

Brooks out of the backfield

Welcome to our best group of weapons since...2011?

I hear ya but we’re not getting Higgins. Better off getting our potential #1 WR in the draft. We desperately need to improve our D.

One of the best catches I've EVER seen.

Also, he controlled that TD all the way to the ground. Fug them for taking it away.

Also, I feel AT's tantrum was one of the final straws in getting Bryce to the bench. A lot of Bryce defenders called for him to be traded and crapped on Canales for bending to the will of the players. I knew then AT was just extremely frustrated because he was getting open and Bryce wouldn't throw the ball downfield even a little bit with time! It seemed even more pronounced because Diontae's pouting and poor route running was rearing its ugly heads as well, but everyone knows AT is a solid teammate/mentor. He is just continuing to prove that and of course his attitude is better because his QB is giving them a chance to win, catch passes, make plays again!

Agree completely on drafting instead of signing a WR. But I'm also prepared for Tepper to get impatient again and tell his cap guru to figure it out.

Bryce showing signs is great, but an unspoken thing to me right now is what does this do to Tepper? He's seemingly been quiet and behind the scenes. Now? If he's "right" about Bryce? Worried he puts the pressure on again to build a winner NOW instead of the right way. Which will mean, throw all the money out there and make the cap work.

    • When we drafted Luke, we already had Cam, Smith, Olsen, Stewart, Deangleo, Gross, Kalil, CJ, Hardy, Beason, TD, Gamble (and maybe more I'm forgetting), we had a lot of great pieces in place. Going pure BPA for a player with Luke's potential when the LB you already have is different when you already have all those pieces in place.  Our OL right now is probably in a better shape than that team and our RBs and TE have potential compared to proven vets back then, but after that, the 2012 roster was in a far better shape than we are right now. We need a #1 WR, DEs, LBs, DBs, C, and depending who you ask a QB.  Going BPA at pick #5 when that player is a DT and your current best player on either side of the ball is a DT, seems irresponsible. If he's the only player they like that high left, then you trade back and go with position of more need at a slot that makes sense for the player while adding other picks.  If you trade back and he falls because other teams don't need/want a DT, then you consider him at that point because of the value.
    • This sounds like the same back and forth when we drafted a LB when we already had a LB or as mentioned prior back to back DLs. I want the BPA, if it is another DT so be it. (No not a kicker/punter for those people that think they are funny))
