Nice work.  Those top 3 needs are spot on.  The front 7 in general need a lot of help outside of Brown.  Great job with this post.

Thanks, bro.  I think the one area of our pass rush that we tend to forget is up the middle.  In the past, when we had players like Jenkins, Buckner, etc.  our edge players get more pressure.  Brown has improved but he can't play the number of snaps he has been playing--we need a rotation, and we need pass rushing DTs who can stop the run and run stopping DTs who can push the pocket.  We need a stud edge for sure.  At ILB, we are not solid--I doubt Thompson comes back, and I think his body is done.

One thing I am noticing in the 12 games or so we have played under Canales.  He seems to be developing players--Smith-Wade had a great game, Sanders (TE) has improved, Coker, Wallace, Bryce, Mays at C, Ekwonu, and Tremble come to mind--that is a large group of players who have visibly improved.  As a result, we are no longer talking about TE, C, LT-allowing us, this year, to focus on the D.

Milton Williams from Philly would be a great get

nobody has said the obvious answer. We are currently top 5. I expect picks 1-2 to go to qbs.

I think we will be picking at fifth or so.  And Jacksonville will likely have the #1 or #2 pick and they will not go qb.  They have to much invested in Lawrence to give up on him.

Seasons not over yet. Few things can change. If the jags stay at 1 they will trade down for a QB needy team. At that point if we are in the top 5 the cost to move to say 3 I'm all in on.

I doubt the Jags trade down, unless someone makes a big offer. And I don't think anyone will for Sanders or Ward.

Targets/Types that we really need to move forward:

-An all-pro level WR talent (Hunter, maybe McMillan towards the top of the draft)

-A shiftier, vertical threat at WR that can rotate spots (I.E. Ricky White Jr.)

-A more balanced OLB that can both set and rush (Harder to come by, but there's some talent - Donovan Ezeiruaku please

-A complimentary corner to Horn (Which is why Will Johnson, who is arguably the #2 overall talent in this draft, is not out of the cards)

Horn and Will Johnson would be so fun together.

Looking at the list of available FAs I'm not seeing a lot of impact players on defense. Most of the edge rushers are older (Khalil Mack), coming off achilles injuries (Dre Greenlaw) or overrated and likely to be overpaid (Jevon Holland).

There are a handful of guys I think can fill needs that we should target on defense:
 - Nate Hobbs (NB, Raiders)
 - Elandon Roberts (LB, Steelers)
 - Malcolm Koonce (EDGE, Raiders)
 - Budda Baker (S, Cardinals)

I think adding a solid nickel in Hobbs and a younger veteran EDGE like Koonce could set us up nicely to take an EDGE in the 1st round or even Mason Graham.

On offense, I honestly think re-signing Brady Christensen should be a priority. He's arguably one of the most versatile OL in the league and can backup at any OL position and start if necessary.

Other than that, I do think if we're going to spend big in free agency it needs to be on a #1 WR and that means Tee Higgins. I also think a good young slot receiver like Josh Palmer from the Chargers or someone who can play the Adam Thielen role, but younger.

The defense needs more talent, but it’s weird to start this off about run defense and not mention we lost our all-pro DT week 1.

…and may again…and if nit him, someone else….team has zero depth…that needs to be fixed across the board

we know why there isn’t any depth…has to be fixed

The easiest way to get depth is by drafting successful players on cheap contracts. The salary cap prevents hoarding of talent outside of that.

But again, any team will feel a decrease in production when they lose their most talented player for the entire season.

BPA in the draft.

Anything on a deal in free agency.

Stockpile talent. We aren’t in any position to be choosy about position.

This.

BPA and a DC who will go back to a 4-3. I’d be overjoyed with a stud DE or DT but if a game changing, consensus BPA, LB, LT, Center, WR or safety is there then that’s who you take. I truly believe we have better talent on D than is currently on display since the scheme is so poor.
