What Are Your Top Offseason Targets Now That Bryce Young Is Showing Promise?

In FA go after some defensive talent. Doesn't matter what position we can improve at any position on defense.

Draft Tmac with our 1st and go all defense the rest of the draft.

I don't think people really appreciate just what kind of fireworks T-Mac and Bryce would create for the next 10 years. We can build up the D with the rest of FA and Rounds 2 thru 7, but we get a bonafide WR1 that pairs well with BY9's skillset and a lot of drops this year are touchdowns.

Unless you're willing to give up another haul of capital I do not envision us acquiring a "#1 WR" that will realistically be available that would fit the standards some of you seek. IE continually bail out Bryce no matter how good or bad his throws are and singlehandedly win games for us.

Sure it would be nice to have that alpha but first this first let's get some sets of hands in there that aren't drive killers. Thielen can only do so much

Figure out how to get Kyle Pitts from Atl. For whatever reason, the Falcons hate throwing to him. Pairing him with Sanders could be a nasty combo. Add T Mac in the 1st and everything else to the D. Bring in competition at the QB position because we need that still.

Kyle Pitts is nearly a bust.  He isn’t very good at all.

We suddenly have Cade Mays fans?  I think he is coming along, personally. Before today, I might have added TE to the list, but Tremble showed me that we will have 2 good ones.  I don't like WR in this draft, but if we could add a quality player in free agency, maybe that is how it will be addressed.  Here is how I see it:

1. Edge.  You have to draft an edge because there are only 2-3 players I'd call elite--and they drop off considerably after that, based on the information I have reviewed.  Carter (PSU) is who I would target.

2.  #1 WR.  I do not see XL ever becoming a true #1, but a good #2.  Thielen has a year left in the tank, Coker, and maybe one more would make us solid.  I think Coker will become a solid Slot, XL will become the Z, and if we can draft a stud, we should be good at WR.

3.  In round 2 of the draft, I would definitely draft a DT.  There are some good NT types who are rather athletic.

4.  CB--try to sign Mike Jackson if you can.  Smith-Wade had a good game today--love to see him step up--but we need 4-5.

5.  QB--we need to develop a QB at all times--injury, competition, etc.

6. ILB--I am not a huge Jewell fan, and Wallace is only decent at this point.  This draft should be solid at ILB in the middle rounds.

7. S--I am not saying that we need to draft these positions in this order, but I am saying that these are the order of the needs as I see them now...I have not looked to see who is leaving (free agency) or coming in because we don't know.

8.  OT--I am curious about BC--what is the plan for him?  With Mays doing fairly well at C, BC is the quintessential NFL backup OL.  Still, Moton is expensive and probably has 2 years left here--I think we always need a third OT if BC is not in the cards.

Now, if I had to prioritize three positions, I would do this:

1. Edge

2. WR

3.  DT (we get Brown back, but it takes two to stuff the run and move the pocket back to help our edge rushers.  If we had 2 stud lines, we would tough to beat.)

Ehhhhh Kirk Cousins isn't really throwing to him not because they don't know how to use him, but because Pitts has been very ineffective at route running, separating and taking the next step in this league.

He got by with his freakish athleticism out of college. But so far, consensus among Falcon fans and analysts is Pitts just never took the next step of refining his route running and being an effective TE from blocking to decent receiving.

For cheap, wouldn't mind a waiver cause lord knows anyone is an upgrade over Ian fugging Thomas, but really wouldn't throw even an average sized deal for a guy who hasn't proven himself.

Edge 1st round. CB, LB or DT or another edge with the 2nd and 3rd. After that? We lost Brown and Shaq and DJ just got back. Too many injuries early on to really tell what we have but a competitive team is starting to show up regardless.

Nice work.  Those top 3 needs are spot on.  The front 7 in general need a lot of help outside of Brown.  Great job with this post.

nobody has said the obvious answer. We are currently top 5. I expect picks 1-2 to go to qbs. At 3 the best player in the draft will come off the board and that's Travis hunter. I don't care if you say we need edge tackle whatever help you think we might need. He is by far the best player in this draft and as close to a sure fire Hall of famer as you can draft.

He's that deion Sanders, champ Bailey, Charles woodson rare pick. Honestly if we looking at ability to play both sides of the field I thinks he's overall better than all of those guys. Generational talent. Would trade from 5 to 3 to land that guy easily.

Pass rushers and ILB

Wouldn't mind seeing us go back to a 4-3.

Think we have better personnel for it, especially sending the upcoming draft focused on rebuilding & augmenting the Front 7.

And obviously getting Derrick Brown back.

Agreed. In almost any other circumstance I would take Edge Rusher, but Travis Hunter is a rare talent.
