I don’t care if a rookie head coach makes some fixable time management or play-calling mistakes in his first year, especially on a team destined for the bottom of the standings. Those issues can be fixed, and I’ll only worry if they turn into a consistent problem in years 2 or 3.

What matters to me is how the team has progressed from the start of the season to now. After being benched earlier, our undersized QB has steadily improved week by week and has made games competitive despite the team’s flaws. Dave Canales and his coaching staff turned what looked like a long-shot rookie into at least a serviceable quarterback with the potential to become our long-term QB1.

This season, I wanted to see improvement and proof that Canales has a plan that works—and so far, that’s exactly what he has delivered. The team keeps making consistent progress as the season winds down, and on top of that, we’re securing a good draft position without the need to reach for another rookie QB.

Canales has developed this team at a high level. That’s what I care about most, and he deserves credit for it. If he takes the offseason to refine his game-day management, we’ll be in an even better position moving forward.

Can’t fight being a cursed franchise though. That sh*t is REAL.

Truth is this was the best outcome. Bryce was money in the 2 min drill and was clutch all day. And losing like this doesn't hurt our draft position. We weren't going anywhere. And it exposes Everos prevent zone which has resulted in us giving up more points in the last 2 minutes of a game than any other team.

Bingo!!! You summed it up perfectly!!!

The good: Bryce continues his ascent, the d wasn't horrible for 3 quarters, thielen might not be a cap casualty next year bc he be Ballin

The bad: red zone struggles continued,  poor play calling, unwilling to pound the rock

The ugly: the fumble, the td that wasn't, pinero shanking 2 fg all cost us the game, the d also melted at the end of the game and bucky Irving is the latest rb to have a career game vs the panthers

For the first time in awhile I was surprised and disappointed in the loss. The apathy is slowly disappearing but there is a lot of work to do

Just look at the Browns and Jets

What about it, they are cursed too! Lions as well. Even when they’re good they’ll find ways to lose in excruciating fashion. Just wait until the playoffs, I don’t envy them.

I mean..in someways we still win. If BY can show he’s a franchise QB..moving forward that changes A LOT. For record, I wasn’t the biggest  of his, but dude is balling.

He's showing he's a bottom 10 league starter at this point. There will be rookies better than him next season. A franchise QB wins on drives consistently, leads bad teams to wins against good teams, and can beat top 10 defenses in close games.

The bar is so low.

Bryce Young is a tier below Ryan Fitzpatrick. Do you think he surpasses that level, and how many years will that take?

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems clear to me Morgan is trying to do the “Lions rebuild” which is culture, physicality, and ball possession. Unfortunately will take time and a lot of losses along the way, but if that is what we’re doing, we seem to be doing it right. Think Lions were 4-12 or something Campbell’s first year.

(" The ugly: the fumble, the td that wasn't, Pinero shanking 2 fg all cost us the game.") Take those away and we win the game easy,

I personally see a much brighter future.   I was a huge Bryce skepticl coming into this year; however,  I kept hoping he could show something.   As far as I'm concerned,  the last few weeks are not a fluke.  He is making some high level throw and decisions. We can focus on defense in the draft.  Grab a different DC and i think we are very competitive in the division.

This is what if feels like to me. Just like the Lions when Campbell took over, they started as a joke and then towards the end of the season they became more and more competitive, until they started winning uglier games the next season and now look at them. I feel our team is fighting hard every game and are on the edge of turning that quarter. We need one more solid draft class.
