Probably but he has flashed some.  He's a 2nd year player.   Certainly shown that he's an NFL QB.  Almost 3 years older than Bryce so not as much room for growth.   I'd say Bryce has the significantly higher ceiling.

And sure.   I agree.   He needs to continue to show this growth to get people to buy in.

The Eagles is an outlier.  That game will be extremely ugly.

I think his play has earned him the chance to compete for starting spot next year with whomever the team brings back.   And it has given the team the luxury of not feeling QB desperate in the draft.

****Unless he completely falls off the planet again and reverts back to what he was, then it's QB time in the draft again***

The Eagles have been an up and down team there's no telling which version of them we'll get. But it is a home game for them so that atmosphere is going to be tough. If Bryce can at least have us competing and keeping it close I will feel good about him going forward. But I do wonder what Canales confidence level in this offense is. He's gotta realize this team only has 3 wins. Take some risks. See what your group is made of. The conservative stuff is more of the same that this beleaguered fanbase doesn't need.

We are in agreement. He will be here to compete next year regardless. All I've maintained is that unless he finishes looking stellar we should not sit on our hands again in relation to the rest of the QB room. That's all. Appreciate the convo.

I'm talking eye test. He is playing significantly more poised in the pocket and making better decisions which is great. He's also hitting open players down field, which is great too and he wasn't doing before getting benched. But I have still yet to see him actually threaten a defense in any way. He's taking the plays that are there. In today's NFL you need a QB who is actually a threat. I just still don't see it with Bryce even with his much improved play this past month or so.

You're correct. He shows flashes. Maybe 1 play every 4 to 5 drives.

If you were a coaching staff facing a QB who only passes for a TD on 15% of their drives, completes less than 60% of his passes, and has a redzone TD% of less than 25% while getting to the redzone 30% of their drives, what's your game plan?

He's not allowed to earn my respect back by playing better?

Kind of hard to keep bashing him when he's clearly been playing better.

I'm a fair minded individual. Play bad I will trash you. Play good I will praise you.

My brother in Christ you won't praise them if they're good. You'll say that everybody else is pathetic. 😛

I think regardless of if you've got your QB1 or not, you always need to be trying to groom someone to be able to step up into the QB1 position. Brady was a perfect example of how important that was. Down week 1, insert Matt Cassel, and they were off to an 11-5 season that should have had them in the playoffs. Cam showed us the opposite side of that situation. His shoulder was destroyed by TJ Watt and we've been bumbling and fumbling ever since. Having a vet presence like Dalton is nice for a few games, but you always have to be trying to get the next guy ready.

    • Ravens coach John Harbaugh said “I’m going to have to wait” when asked about Diontae Johnson’s availability following Week 13’s loss to the Eagles. This comes a day after Harbaugh declined to comment on Johnson’s availability immediately after the loss when he said, “I’m not really ready to comment on that right now. I will be, but I don’t have enough information right now.” Whatever “information” Harbaugh needs is a mystery to most, but maybe he’ll gather that intel during the team’s Week 14 bye. Since being acquired by the Ravens’ at the trade deadline, Johnson has run 19 routes while playing on 39 offensive snaps. Johnson didn’t see the field in Sunday’s loss despite Rashod Bateman exiting early with a knee injury. Bateman’s injury isn’t believed to be long-term, but it will be interesting to see if Johnson sees an increase in playing time should Bateman miss a game or two
    • Wouldn't 300 yards and 2 TDs passing be considered "lighting it up" vs. the Eagles?  I take "lighting it up" to be an exceptional performance, not just NFL standard play. Don't you?
    • This must be one of his more popular videos because he drops these Bryce so quickly.
