I could see us winning another game or 2 and not having a chance at hunter.

Hunter is a guaranteed top 3 pick imo

We currently need some help just to get in position to draft him. There is talk he could go #1 overall to Jacksonville.

Unless one of these teams take a quarterback he probably goes number 1

I don't think you can disqualify  drafting a qb early until you see where you pick and who is available. With starting  qbs earning 30 million a year and rookies having a rookie salary cap you aren't risking that much in drafting another guy to learn under Bryce or take over if he is better.  Like drafting a middle to fill in  linebacker high, you need quality athletes in positions that impact the play on their side of the ball on every down. It really is finding the best guy we can to move us forward.

Mason Graham is purely a run defender

I understand our run defense is literally non existent but to spend a top 10 pick on that… nah

I see your point, but that was the same knock on big Derrick. Add another Grimlock on the DL and that's quality ass kicking.

    • I think XL is going to be just fine. His mistakes have stuck out a lot more because they've been in clutch situations. If a few plays go a different way he's at least over 500 yds receiving and 5 TDs, that's not bad at all for a rookie.
    • Look at our WR situation from the other side. Who are you going to put your better CBs on?  Johnson and Theilen went out early---XL had 138 yards in the first three games on 12 catches.  Yardage-wise, that is over 30% of his total for the season.  12 catches is nearly 30% of his catches for the season. When these players went out--Johnson, AT, Mingo, etc.  it left XL facing the best corners of the opposition for many games.  He is raw--we knew that when we drafted him.  You can't throw a raw WR at the best CBs in the NFL and expect instant success.  If he spent the season facing the second or even third best CBs on each team, he'd probably have better stats.  Legette is still thinking out there, in my view. When the light comes on, he will be good. ------------------------------------------------ Hearing that there is noise to play Velus Jones over the next two games.  We will see if they do.
    • I wonder if Rod asking all our top goal scorers to be able to be great on defense as well is wearing on them. Just let them be our goal scorers! This is why you have defensemen and bottom line forwards!
