admittedly, that 75% is pushing it for me. but i really like what i've been seeing. he's passing my eye test. i'm hoping he can keep it up.

He played like the kid coming out of Alabama. That's what he has done and what everyone expected him to do from the jump. What almost everyone failed to consider was what it would take to get him to play like that in the nfl. Turns out it was just a matter of confidence.

I've never seen such a JAG get universal praise just for becoming a functional QB. Maybe it is because we gave up so much for him that people are desperate for him to succeed and are pushing that narrative. Bryce went from total ass to average. Whoopie!

Right. Let's celebrate him for doing the minimum requirements of his job.

Right now it's an anomalous good game. We'll see if he builds on it but so many people so excited about 253 yards and a TD kinda speaks to just how bad he's been.  He finally showed some poise and an ability to make some throws and put together a legitimately good game. That's a good thing. But when this is your crown jewel after 20 or so starts, I mean... we still need to see a lot more over these last few games.

Nobody is getting excited about "253 yards and a TD".  It's always been about the eyeball test, as you've even consistently stated yourself.  I'm not sure why we're playing "Box Score" now.

I keep thinking we are going to draft a dude later in the draft in the mold of what DC wants/likes in a qb.  And we are also going to probably sign a vet

As should be the case every draft unless you got a younger guy who got "it".

__________

The question is not if the team need to draft anither QB (and sit min. first year) but in which round you need to pick a pproject. You draft until you nail the pick.

If BY have more shaky games, a Qb in round 1-2 should be in talk.

If he put up similiar games as the last 3, pick a QB in 3-7 round.

If he plays as last 3 games but have one or a few great games, MAYBE not pick a QB, but I still think a late round QB should be picked because unless you have a franchise QB you don't really have a long term solution.

I'm at around 50% so it will take him playing at or near this level the rest of the way before I'm convinced he could be worth the investment. Sunday he played like he has and can play so he just had to keep it up. He hasn't done that since being drafted. Last season nearly ruined any hopes he may have had make it in the league. I'm proud of how he's taken the benching and am pulling for him to take the league by storm.

I am more around 25-30%.  But I was at 0% after the first two games, so its a vast improvement.  🙂

He's gonna end up getting a shot next year because Sanders or Ward won't fall to us and the free agency class will be dog poo.  I bet we swap Andy Dalton for another backup tier free agent and and roll with Bryce and that guy in 2025.

Fall to us? We are picking 3

According to the talking heads of the sports world, this is a pretty meh QB class.  Sanders and Ward are the only two with first round buzz, but the rest are blah.  Take that for what you will.

Let's see how Bryce does in year three.  That's just where we are.  Patience is the key here.  Players need time to develop.  They can't develop if they don't play.  Bryce has made some really good throws, but he doesn't look like CJ Stroud.  That's going to be his point of comparison the rest of their careers.  The ball doesn't explode off Bryce's hand, it's not a cannon ball shot out of a cannon.  He's not going to break a 70 yard run.

Bryce is going to have to continue to make good throws and make plays.  Part of that is going to depend on the play calls.  Part of it is based on the skill players.  A couple drops picked up yesterday and it's a win and Bryce throws 1-2 more TDs.  A completely different story.

It's been a crazy year indeed.  I just want to see Bryce continue to develop.  To see XL become more consistent.  To see JT fully recover (not play this season if he's not healthy).  I want to see Coker continue to make plays.  I'd love to see Brooks get more touches and Chubba continue to hammer defenses.

Then this approaching offseason, let's go back to the D and work on fixing it.

I don't even understand QBR. Anyone with eyes would grade that better than that.

The issue is the formula is secret, and it incorporates runs... So...

It tracks pretty well a lot of the time.  But its usefulness is limited because the formula is a secret.

Yup, it does. Same with PFF (which isn't quite as secret). But when it doesn't - like on Sunday - it's often to hilarious results. PFF is more reliable I think at matching my 'eye' test.

I think a lot of people that are saying stuff like "JAG" and "typical game" or something really are not watching the actual plays or understanding the tempo of the game.

IT IS JUST ONE GAME.  So I'm not sold on him yet.

But it was a very good one. We put the game squarely on his shoulders. He stood in the pocket, got leveled while delivering balls 15-20 yards down field. This wasn't just a typical NFL QB game and it was well above JAG level. I strongly suggest folks watch some of the throw breakdowns that are out there (like on QB School, if you want) if you didn't see the whole game.

But the real question is, can he do it week after week? Can this be his normal, rather than his exceptional?

You just focused on the part you wanted to focus on. I said he showed poise and made some throws. You know, passed the eye test for once.

What I was getting at is that he basically had a run of the mill "good game" for an NFL QB and he's been so bad that has people jumping for joy. It's a great step. He looked like a real NFL QB for once. Let's see what he does moving forward. Hopefully it's the start of something.

Meanwhile, you just show up sporadically to poo on people who have the audacity to voice an opinion so why do you bother at all?

Conales calling a game that played to his strengths certainly helped. Maybe they're both gaining confidence in Bryce. Bryce isn't your typical QB and you can't expect him to plat like one.

I'm cautiously optimistic.
