Honestly, the biggest surprise is not so much the anticipation. There were those moments here and there last year as well. It's that even that one positive quality he had seemingly vanished his first two games to where it looked like it was all but over, only for it to start coming back some until you get exclamation points all over this game film. And some of those throws were under a lot of duress, something I feel is something new. Finally, those deeper shots are starting to land. Not all of them, but enough that defenses may have to start respecting them.

No guarantees whether this will end up as more of anomaly but I certainly hope it isn't. The Green Bay game was a sampler of what BY could be. Against KC, we got a meal. If we could start getting these meals regularly, we might actually have something to work with here.

I think this was different from the Green Bay game. In Green Bay, he showed that he could fire some shots into tight coverage when he just let it loose. This game showed a mastery of the offense. Knowing where to go with the ball, manipulating defenders, trusting the oline and receivers. And it has been a steady progression. Green Bay came out of nowhere. This performance started in Denver, and steadily progressed through the Saints and the Giants. I think he's kind of figuring it out. The only questions now, is can he be consistent, and how much better can he really get?

GB was a terrible pass defense, too, if I recall. KC is not at all, tho they are stronger against the run. Young not only kept us in the game but tied it up at the end. If he and the O figure the red zone out, we'll be a scary opponent.

I completely agree, I was stating that yesterday with my brother we need to give Bryce his D Smith (eagles) or John Meetchie type players he flourished with in college and someone who gives us that instant YAC. 
 

Yep. Notice he doesn't "overthrow" Legette on the deep routes, like he did TMJ, Mingo, Thielen, and Coker. He's used to speedier wide receivers. He probably had quicker/faster receivers in high school. But he needs to learn to adjust to the player.

It isn't slower WRs that cause wild overthrows. They have all kinds of practice. It is his mechanics keeping things under control that allows a more efficient conversion of energy, let's call it, into the throw, that we are seeing. 

He was doing it with horrible mechanics and needing to put 100% effort to get the ball that far. That totally fugs your accuracy. There is video of Mahomes and Carr on this site that I have linked with them throwing under control vs all out trying to get the most velocity on a radar gun. It shows exactly what I am saying. I didn't make it up.

I have been telling y'all for a year at least. It really is all about the margins with Young and he has to be very attentive to his technique to get the most from what he has. He is doing that now and this is the new 'what he can do'. And this is it, there ain't no more. You decide if that's enough for you I guess. But you are noticing better ball flight and zip I am pretty sure, it comes from there. Again go look at the Buffalo drive in preseason and you will see that same thing you see lately.

To do that stuff you have to be willing to stand tall come what may, sometimes. Hopefully you have protection to step up safely but the difference making happens when you stand in there and finish just ahead of a hit. 

..... And btw, the straw that broke the camel's back when Tepper fired Reich, was because he couldn't fix it in a week. One of the last issues that I remember was about Young's footwork. You know, I guess it is normal that 10 weeks into the season someone just realized, or finally accepted, that Young had major fundamentals issues. It took them a lot longer to realize it isn't an overnight fix. And my issues with Young were specifically over this stuff. Major rehab job, you don't pay what we paid for that.

Hopefully he is 'fixed' and it 'took' and he doesn't go back into his little safe space of the old mechanics like he did week 1. If he hangs with the new, this is what you are working wth now. We just saw his ceiling.

This is a wild statement it’s to late to save his season with six games left? That mountain of bad film as a rookie with trash coaching a weak azz line and dismal WRs. Guys that can’t catch on with other teams or guys traded to teams that are subpar at best. We put Bryce in a terrible situation to start his career does that matter to you or you feel he should’ve, as a rookie elevate this dumpster fire. If you’re giving him a fair assessment judge him off the last four games a good o-line decent WRs still not comparable to any other young QB WR room Hou (tank/nico..) Tua (Hill/Waddle) Caleb (Moore/Rome/Allen) let’s see what he can do with a decent structure around him for the next few weeks then let’s revisit how we’re going to grade or assess his performances.

I think Bryce Young actually benefits from teams that run a heavy blitz % on D.   I think the toughest D for Bryce overall is a team that sits in coverage, sit on the routes,  and relies on their front 4 to do the work.  Bryce still is limited in how much he can threaten a D with certain throws and allows them to cheat on their coverage roles.

I saw stats on this. Chiefs blitzed on 40%(!!!) of BY's drop backs. When blitzed, he was something like 11 of 14, 100+ yards, 126 passer rating, about 10 yds per. I'll try to find the graphic later.
