Bryce QB School Week 12

One thing that stood out to me is that Bryce Young’s “happy feet” no longer seem to be an issue. He’s starting to step into his throws and manage the pocket like an NFL starter should. That was the key difference in his play yesterday compared to previous games. His mechanics looked much improved, and it paid off with accurate, well-executed throws.

If he can maintain these good habits and avoid reverting to “happy feet,” he might break through and start showing flashes of the player he was at Alabama. Of course, it’s just one strong performance. He still needs to prove that his poor mechanics and inconsistent play are behind him. But yesterday’s game was an encouraging step, and time will tell if it’s a turning point or just a brief highlight.

Easily JTO's most positive film review of Bryce. The anticipation shout outs, shouting out the play calling and design from Canales, the ball placement, the way he suddenly is able to stand tall and climb the pocket where necessary. There's something worth keeping here at QB all the sudden. Shocking turnaround.

I don't want anyone to expect Young to play this well Sunday, because he won't, but seeing him do it against KC was great. He's made a lot of encouraging strides over the last few weeks and he deserves credit there.

If he can lead the team to a couple more wins, he'll play them out of drafting his replacement. And if not, well, there you go.

I have been on that for a while, I agree. It is the mechanics for him that get him to where he might be able to stick in the NFL. Because when he does not focus on getting his base right he loses velocity and also it delays his release slightly.

He doesn't have velocity to spare. Also, he nutted up and stood taller and stepped into things and that made a huge improvement.

He is throwing off the back foot into pressure but his feet aren't running away at least and it has worked out lately. He threw the deeper one to Sanders like that. That's much better than turning your back and running.

On the realism side, I don't think some of those plays vs KC were on film. I don't remember seeing a couple, there could be more that they put in over the bye that I didn't identify as new. I still don't know how he is going to see where to throw it once people start studying what is working for us and figure out the spot he is throwing to. We'll see.

If you could tell me how he is going to play I’d like to know in advance so when I’m cooking up my parlays I can maximize my money this Sunday. You’re either a real deal hater of Bryce and I’m not mad at you if you are he’s looked terrible for way to long or you don’t want to admit that Bryce is getting better each week. Because I definitely expect him to play at that level or better this week he’s been building on each performance since the benching. He know has his ace back if Cooker plays this week I expect more big plays this week then last week. I expect the same or better comp percentage. I don’t see why I wouldn’t except to see what I’ve been seeing the last 4 games are you saying he peaked out be LC and is going to turn back into panic man in the pocket Bryce this week I need your input so I can degenerate sports bet player prop my friend lol.

He could easily have a Colt McCoy-ish career. He had a very long backup QB career.

Good luck with that. I'm not a "real deal hater of Bryce," I've given him plenty of credit where it's due. I'm glad you're excited about how he's played lately. I've been impressed, too -- but let's dial back the expectations a bit.

Bryce had a great game yesterday, but these receivers are getting little to no separation, and they rarely get YAC, so Bryce is gonna need to continue to throw perfect passes which I don’t think it’s possible on a week to week basis. We need Legette to break out, and idk what happen with Coker yesterday

The anticipation has really started to show up the last 4 weeks

One of the best balls Young has thrown was that deep in (dagger concept) to Legette against the Saints

Then yesterday the anticipation was next level and consistent throughout the entire game. The only reason we were even remotely in that game yesterday was because of Young

There are a lot of QB’s in the league that won’t ever throw with the type of anticipation Young showed all day yesterday.

I really hope Young gets in the damn weight room this offseason. The ability to anticipate and read defenses at a high level is clearly there. Now it’s on the Panthers and this staff to continue to build a team around him
