assuming we become a .500 football team in a year or two like a i hope. Is everyone still going to talk about the Rams trade that didnt happen at that point?

Yes. We will be talking about it until we win a SB.

I will never put the Burns situation on Morgan. He got the best deal he could considering we had zero leverage. Fitterer was the one who screwed that situation up by not taking the Rams offer.

And then it leaks from somewhere. Bye bye leverage, have fun over at Brian Burns' house.

Not trading burns was the right move at the time. With hindsight it’s not, but that’s a cowards way to evaluate things, and the panthers don’t make their playoff push without him.

Fitterer did plenty of crappy moves without penalizing him for his lack of future seeing ability.

There is not a non qb player in the NFL that you don't make that trade for

Sorry, but it’s been reported by Person that Dan was in agreement of passing on the trade. Souleman was the only dissenting voice, likely because no soon to be $30M non-QB ever gets that much. Even the awful GM Bill O’Brien paid less for Tunsil than what we turned down for Burns because the Texans got two picks back.

And Samir Suleiman is no longer with the team.. Sound like he must’ve been forced out for being right. How am I not surprised?

We don’t know what transpired there. That wasn’t Dan’s final call to make

I’ve pointed this out multiple times. Nobody in here was in the meetings where the decisions were made. Blaming Morgan for moves Fitterer signed off on just because of guilt by association is absurd.

And no GM in the league is going to make a move that weakens his team for 1.5 years before he even gets to use the picks.

I mean besides like peak belichick or roseman or something

If he disagreed he wouldn't have made it public, from a subordinate position. Job security. Plus Fitterer is his friend.

Suleiman, maybe he was right on the one thing people know about, but we don't know what went with or against in the many other meetings they surely had.

This is what people don't understand.  Scott Fitterer got fired before he would have made either of those 1sts.  Was it the right decision to trade Burns to the Rams for the Panthers?  Yes.  Was it the right decision for Scott Fitterer?  I'd argue no.  And I think Dan agreed with him for the same reasons.  That's not a trade you can make unless you have assurances that you won't be fired.

That's a good point. Self preservation is a great motivator.
