What I've noticed from Panther interviews...

Maybe they just aren't sure about what the young guys are capable of yet

I think, along with what others have said about offensive players seeing offensive needs and defensive players seeing defensive needs, this is the biggest reason. Just look at how many arguments there have been among fans over this, and it's probably the same with players. No one really knows what the young guys will bring. At this point, it's all speculation...both for and against them. Plus, everyone always feels more comfortable with the known commodity rather than a group of young unproven guys.

With that said, I think WR is clearly our most pressing need simply because we at least have starters penciled in everywhere else. But at WR, all we have opposite of Smitty is Jarrett, who is probably more of an enigma than the DT's. However, I'm not sure the value will be there at WR when we pick, so if the right DT drops, I could easily see the team snatching him up. But I could also see us trading down lower in the 2nd and taking someone like Taylor Price or Eric Decker (either guy would fit what we need here, IMO). If Alualu drops to us, I can easily see us picking him up since he has the versatility to play both DT and DE, so would fit within the concept of flexibility the team likes.

I would expect defensive players, especially a MLB, to see a need on the defensive line as the teams biggest need just like I would expect players on the offense to see a WR as the teams biggest need.

We have Beason...backed up by Connor. We do not need another MLB. SLB, yes...MLB, no.
