Anyone know XL’s drop % rate?

Gettleman drafted for need after he cut Josh Norman and look how that tuned out.  Vernon Butler followed by 3 straight picks on CBs.  Disaster.

You can't ignore need but if you get panicky and don't play your board, you are fuged.

What you're calling "drops" are contested catches. We either have other guys open that Bryce is missing or Bryce trusts Legette to win. Either way, contested catches are obviously going to have a lower conversion rate.

This is what a "drop" looks like

I remember that drop. My remote control sustained substantial damage an instant later.

Butler wasn't need.  Butler was BPA mindset.

James Bradberry was essentially the Norman replacement.  That was a pretty good pick.

The fact that Gettleman went in with such a scenario as needing to draft that many CBs driving his strategy, indicts him for me. He made a total mess of things after he started off strong.

well, in hindsight, he probably got the Norman thing right.  Letting him walk and drafting Bradberry was probably the best move.

once you get into the 5th round...I don't even count that.  That's true lotto picks.

It was the way he did things. Last minute.

Oh, it was handled horrifically.  Ego got in the way of a plan.  I'm just saying, that he actually probably stumbled into the better outcome/plan.

Gettleman's ego and Norman having an ridiculously inexperienced agent was a match made in hell. Pulling the tag was always a WTF move.

Wide receivers, even the great ones (and they are rare) can get real expensive, real quick and are involved in say 40-70% of a team's plays, based on that team's particular style of offense.

An edge rusher, DT or LB can very often be involved in 100% of the plays on defense.

It's a much better, more cost effective pick to grab one of those defenders (who are easier to evaluate and plug into a system) than to spin out yet another pick on a wide receiver. We're fair to middling, maybe even good with receivers right now.

And ignoring a need in a draft might just be the dumbest way to work a draft. Really, just think about what you said.

You do realize there is more than 1 pick in a draft right?

I said draft Tmac with our 1st as he will likely be the best player available as things stand now. We can draft for needs the rest of the draft lol

I think top 5/10 is where you draft the elite over need. Do you pass up a JJ Watt or a Peppers just because you need a WR? There's really only a few of those elite level prospects every draft anyway. So unless it's a QB, and you already have a Mahomes where you could easily trade out, you have to pick the guy that has the potential to be special.

Sorry, but these seem suspect. It feels like he’s had at least 4 just in Young’s recent starts. Just like today, we’ve overcome them but 4 for this season seems low. I don’t think there would have been a thread on his drops if he was just average. Luckily for us, we got a 1st on 4th down because Legette’s drop could have been a game losing drop.

That’s because some people think a drop is any ball in the general vicinity. When the ball is placed in a spot that’s difficult to catch and they don’t catch it, that’s not on the WR, that’s on the QB. 4 seems right to me. One yesterday, a similar drop a game or two back but not many otherwise. He’s snagged a lot more difficult passes than he’s dropped catchable ones, like the ankle catch yesterday.

I’m assuming his drop % of catchable balls thrown to him has to be top of the NFL.

7.8%

24th in the league in drops

39th in the league in drop percentage

As mentioned, Amari Cooper has been horrifyingly bad. He leads the leagues in drops (11) and drop percentage (17.5%).
