My Personal Takeaway from This Game vs Cheifs

What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.

We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching.

We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue.

Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.

Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace.

If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons.

Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.

We finally have a decent offensive game and now we're ready to outright say that offense isn't a huge issue? 30th in the NFL in average points per game begs to differ.

I think a lot of fans are overreacting to this game due to the expectation that we were likely going to get blown out. Let's see a few more like this before we start claiming problems have been solved.

I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and they need to be more consistent in scoring points.

I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo.

They have scored 20 or more in 6 out of 11 games and scored 30 or more in 2 out of 11 games played this year. And the season isn't over yet. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season .

I'd say that's a pretty decent improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.

Replace "Panthers" with "Bryce Young" and this sentence still makes sense.

Bryce, Canales, and the team in general are doing exactly what I hoped would happen this season: showing improvement as the year goes on. I knew wins would be sparse, but as long as the team improved and kept things competitive, I'd be happy.

This was the first game in I don't know how long I was actually excited to watch as it came down to the wire. I didn't get hyped the past two weeks, this one was different.

They're showing improvement and that gives hope for the future, which is all you could ask for this season.

I'm not crowning anyone and I'm not proclaiming it's a surefire thing, but it's nice to see the team get a little better each week in different areas as the season goes on.
