Bryce developing before our eyes

Still limited but played a lot better. 

Went from should be out of NFL to backup/PS lvl. Keep improving and may make spot starter lvl.

Just looking like you belong in the NFL is a start though...

Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at.

Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game. 

The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad

Solid and fair assessment.  

I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.  

If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.

He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there.

Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.

My only caution is we don't know how the playbook has changed to accomodate his specific skills or lack thereof. But... That's true of any QB. The offense was not held back by the passing game at all. He does need to find ways to score in the red zone but that will come.

I don’t think he gets enough credit for his toughness. He stepped into some of those throws in face of pressure knowing he would get hit.  In fact

I think to an extent, we are exaggerating the KC defense in this assessment. 

That's a middle of the road NFL pass defense that is largely being billed as a very good. 

Bryce Young had a good game for Bryce Young.  I just don't see how this game really changes anything.  He doesn't have the tools and makeup to be what your answer at QB should be.

This was evident first two weeks of season. I don’t see any issues with physical tools since he came back. I think he is a player that must play with confidence to overcome those size limitations and he’s doing that.

Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.  

But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will. 

He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see. 

It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.

his height, size and arm will forever cause problems and limitations...that is what it is. 

I think to a degree, the law of averages is just coming into play a bit with him.  So as he plays more and more, you just flat out get the decent days mixed in too.  Which is just going to happen.

Yup, their defensive game plan was to stop the run and make Bryce Young beat them.  Honestly, would you blame them for that strategy?  Hubbard was bottled up most of the game until a couple chunk plays later in the second half.  I doubt he had 20 yards rushing at halftime.

Daniel Jones sometimes would sling it for 300 or 400 yards.  That's my stance.  We know what Bryce is.  If you consistently play any QB at this level, they largely are going to end up w/ some good days/games. 

last time Mahomes was at BOA, Teddy Bridgwater threw for 300+ yards and a couple TDs and the Matt Rhule Panthers almost took him down. 

We know what Bryce is.  Now we got people predictably falling into a predictable trap.
