Forget about Bryce, Dave Canales is who we should be talking about.

That's exactly what I was saying. They were trying to compare the situation of the throw instead of THE THROW itself.

Yea after reading this thread I felt like I had to add to what you were saying. When having this discussion you can’t say oh he didn’t throw into a double coverage man whoopty f….do but he threw it 40 yards downfield on a rope with pinpoint accuracy that shhhh equals the same dam throw. Give the man his credit we’ve all seen him play like poo for way to long trashed him bashed him etc now that’s he’s actually playing like the player we were expecting and happens to be doing things a number one pick should do can we give him the same Got D… energy we did when we were killing him. He hadn’t arrived but to say he hasn’t done something when there’s clear film he has and can and then move the goal post to oh show me a throw into double coverage knock it off it’s getting close to goofy levels.

Just because the ball travels the same distance doesn’t mean it’s the same throw. Bryce just doesn’t have the arm strength to make those types of throws. He has to put a lot of air under the ball to push it down field which is why a lot of his deep passes are either overthrown or fade out of bounds.

Has he improved, yes, he clearly has but he isn’t all of a sudden going to have an arm that is able to make all of the throws an elite QB is able to make.

The reason I was positive about Canales wasn't for him to work with Young, it was what we could get out of the next guy. That he would find the right one and work him up.

He has done wonders with Young and Young gets credit for doing the work too. I still want to give Canales an opportunity to work with better physical traits.

That poo was a wonder that I saw compared to last year my man.

A bar so low Bryce could trip over it

It was similar to the one random good game he had last season. People are just using it as the new starting line to judge him because it fits what they want to happen.

any qb, no matter how dogshit, can have one random good game. See Young, Bryce: 2023

The same people claiming Bryce has turned a corner now said that after Green Bay.

I understand all that. I understand totally that we were conditioned to accept less and be happy with it. If you want to remove wonders and use great job I'm cool with it.

This is what I see, the track record of his roller coaster like dropoff notwithstanding: his mechanics are night and day. The ball is mostly coming out quicker. If he does not abandon the mechanics in panic he will be consistently better than he was. The ball will go more where he wants it, and get there quicker.

After that I can't say because what else we have here is a guy who can't see over people but isn't quite fast enough to outrun modern NFL pass rushers for long. He has small margins and has to be 'on' or it won't work so well. He is not good at securing the ball when being hit. And stuff is getting on film and will be dissected.

I suspect we saw his ceiling or really close to it, and he has to hit that every week. We'll see.

I will say, I'm not a Bryce hater.  I have seen definite improvement in his play the past few weeks.  Hopefully he builds on it and becomes an elite qb.  In the back of my mind though there is a little voice that says, maybe this is mostly Canales and if he can do this with a player as limited physically as Bryce, what could he do with a young qb who doesn't have as many limitations.    That said, it is probably actually a combination of everything and you've got to give credit to Bryce for coming back from the benching looking the best he ever has.
