And it was coming off of a bye week. Perhaps he should vacation a bit in Germany in the off season, something certainly seemed to help him there.

No, really... He showed maturation and the possibility that he's turning a corner. That wasn't the NY Giants out there, but the back to back Super Bowl champions with the #3 defense in the league, with them coming off of a prime time loss. And that was a 9-1 team we just played literally down to the last second.

Bryce played so well that maybe, maybe he wins over some nay-sayers. It's still early, though, but what a nice breath of fresh air that was. You can win quite a few games if that is your normal performance. It is obvious that we are still on the learning curve, though. But that was one helluva test he just took.

Some of these QBs coming out of college just don't have a lot of games under their belts, especially in top end programs. They are perhaps just a year to two years behind center in games that matter before they move up. It can take them some time to hit their stride.

We can still be cautious about our future and still celebrate a great game by the kid, though, and we should. He earned the laurels today, or had before they were snatched away at the last second.

Its not just that he had a good game today.  In the past two games, he has done mostly what the coaching staff asked him to do.  Its clear they were bringing him along slowly, not asking him to do to much.  Today they ask him to do a little more, and he responded.

I was happy with most of his play.  XL dropping that pass wasn't Bryces fault and Tremble dropped a TD.   Also I didn't love the lack of run plays in the first half but that's not Bryces fault.

But if we had Coker and Sanders all game I think we may have won.

He had a really good game today.

That is literally the only thing that needs to be said.

There's no reason to say he will continue to play great.

There's no reason to say it was an anomaly and he will continue to suck.

Hopefully he continues to improve and build on the success he had today, but to claim one way or the other so definitively is too extreme in either direction and not conversations that are productive.

Bryce did play the best game of his career but it isn't an anomaly as much as a progression in his understanding of the game and ability to translate what he knows to performance on the field. Dalton really helped him see what it takes to throw in NFL sized windows and he is letting it go trusting what he sees. I am enjoying his progress and really appreciating how Canales is bringing him along.

Compared to last year and the beginning of this year, he is throwing when guys are “nfl open”.

He’s much more willing to push the ball downfield.

He’s more accurate.

Redzone passing needs work.

This game was not the same as the packers game last year. This was a very good defense.

He’ll get another year here. If he keeps improving, he might be worth keeping.

Yeah to those bolded, for me, were clear. Especially the NFL open. Him not throwing the ball on time when there could have been a completion was killing us.

The ball bounced right today with that sack and Icky recovering it.

Noticed that too...

Couple of plays had me saying "Damn, that was close" 😬

There were some glaring differences when Dalton came in as the starter.

Not holding the ball. Getting it out. Fast.

Standing in and paying the price to make the throw.

And yes the windows. That sort of goes into getting the ball out, you aren't waiting for someone to get open before you throw it.

The two biggest things are being willing to throw a 50 50 ball downfield, just take the shot.

And standing in there. I really think he was afraid of being hit more than no confidence. Have to either play with the risk or you may as well just sit down.

edit: I think I could stand to rewatch this one. Haven't had the stomach for them lately.

I want to see his footwork and mechanics closer. The results suggest he is doing the 123 plant throw thing and not doing his meandering tippy toe drops but I was just fun watching the game mostly. Posting, eating, watching. It was finally an entertaining game.

I agree some just take time and having to experience ups and downs and be humbled. My issue is it's only a matter of more time possibly if he has always displayed the necessary physical tools. But he hasn't because those don't exist. So more time is not going to suddenly morph him into something he is not. This is not a Sam Darnold situation. I cannot lie to myself and try to argue otherwise. No disrespect. That's just me keeping it real.

Oh no disrespect here either. Just a discussion on opinions. You are 100% entitled to yours as am I. He definitely doesn't have the physical tools that you look for, but that doesn't mean he can't be special. An outlier. He's been that his whole football life. I'm holding out hope that he can develop into that guy at the NFL level. He's done it at every other level on his way. And he's finally starting to show what everyone thought he'd be. The past 4 games have shown steady improvement. With him and the rest of the team. Even the defense.

The funniest thing about this game is that if you was looking around the panthers media all week everybody was prepared to give him a pass today regardless because THE CHIEFS ARE SO GOOD. It didn't really matter what he did today. I pretty much watched the game not expecting much of anything. If he plays well against good teams it's just a bonus. Its a no lose situation for bryce here. He is gonna get a pass if we play good teams.  There is no point in discussing other parameters.

Not being mentioned much but just having Thielen back was a boost for Bryce, basically his original reliable go-to from his rookie season. As for David Moore being a major factor today, that's an odd one. My guess is a combination of Thielen being back drawing better matchups for everyone else and essentially doing all the stuff Coker would've done but better because he has much more experience in this system. Could've also been by design from Canales because Moore got ten targets today.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
