It's not unreasonable but I would say the investment just doesn't matter anymore. To me, being #1 or Mr irrelevant shouldn't guarantee him a starting job next year. I will say the last few weeks have gone very far in changing my mind from "not sure I want him on the team at all" to "well poo, maybe he could win a starting job next year if he keeps improving."

Well the investment is something us as fans can deliberate over but my concern is with the decision makers who were involved in the pick (Morgan and Tepper) using just enough basic improvement from him as a reason to justify the trade and selection by handing him the keys again and we end up with yet another season of a lack of any real competition. Then if things go south again as the season goes on it's a rerun of this year. That's my worst case scenario right now looking ahead. That would finally lead to me beginning to tune out from the team altogether. Just give us real competition. All I ask.

I'm just going to respectfully and vehemently disagree with you on this. The return on our investment needs to be significantly more than a game manager. If not then we keep looking. I do not believe that is remotely unreasonable.

I didn't watch the game today. In fact, haven't watched one in weeks. But if Young did play well today and can steady the ship as a game manager while the team restocks/builds talent, that's fine even if he was a "big" investment. Because it certainly beats the alternative of him being a huge bust. Call him Bryce "Alex Smith" Jones if you need to.😁

Bryce played his ass off today against a top 5 defense in the NFL.  Today wasn’t “average QB play”.  It was elite.   He LED this team today with his arm.  We got almost no rushing attack, no turnovers, and poor field position.   He led the team to 27 points.   Red zone could’ve been better , other than that, not a single complaint today.

That does not mean he hasn’t been a bad player for the majority of his games.

BUT it should give people hope that there is a player within that can still be developed into an above average starter. There should 100% be competition brought in to compete with him next season.  But think he’s earned the chance to compete and take us out of the QB lottery unless he tanks again the last 1.5 months.

That’s actually a disaster because the benefit of having a high draft pick qb is value surpassing their contract. If you spend all that on a qb and spend several years “restocking/building” you’re getting nothing out of his cost controlled seasons.

this isn’t me being shitty this is just the reality of the modern nfl

Game manager or not the only way he can "steady the ship" for the time being is by getting touchdowns on the board. Maxing out at 1-2 passing touchdowns per game at best is honestly below a game manager. That's what any good backup worth his salt can give you.

That’s absolutely not true.

The NFL has changed this year.  Passing yards and TDs are down.     Backups aren’t doing that every week.

Bryce has some faults in the red zone today but the 2 false starts killed two different RZ drives.   That is the onlY negative for him the entire day.

Everyone talked about the eye test and he passed it for the most part today. Can nitpick here and there for sure but he was making plays out there.

This is what I said about the eye test vs stats. Stats could've been better had tremble caught the td and Leggett caught the long bomb. Also there next to 0 yac.

Now I want to see this sustained.  Unless he gets hurt, Bryce should start the rest of the year. Dalton is not the future

What does this have to do with Bryce? His scoring is just like it’s been his entire career. We have 22 games to judge his point production and it’s been remarkably consistent.

If it results in a few winning seasons, I think most fans will take it. Things under Tepper have been just that bad.
