It amuses me how Goff's name the last few years is often used to compare to subpar or underperforming QB's. Now on the surface I get it. But when you look at his numbers he's been the same QB all along. He's improved his completion % but even with the Rams he averaged 63.4. And that Super Bowl he played in they should have won honestly. If we can get a QB as good as Goff I'll be pretty damn pleased.

I know, if you look at how he played in LA vs. Det. , it hasn't changed much at all. Frankly, had nothing changed and Matt Stafford is still there, I am not sure they don't already have a trophy in Detroit. Goff gets way too much credit in Detroit for turning them around. QB was never the problem with Stafford. The team and coaching had to get better and they finally did.

Agreed on Goff. Give me Matt Ryan or Kirk Cousins or fuging Dak Prescott. I can deal with an upper tier guy that you question if he can ever break through to a SB.

It's a damn sight better than watching a QB that you wonder if he is going to be in the NFL in 2-3 seasons.

And it remains to be seen if Goff has that ability or not. Plenty of very good QB's like Goff were not able to get over those playoff humps. Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins, etc. You can still be an upper tier QB and never get over that hurdle. McVay just thought(and hasn't been wrong yet) Goff was never going to be that guy.

Goff has a great oline, a great rb tandam, a really good TE, a uber elite wr, another good wr and probably the best OC in the league to pair with a good defense.  I think there are a ton of qbs in this league that could easily win in that situation

Yeah and he succeeded at an even higher level in LA with an even better surrounding cast. Goff is a guy that isn't really able to dramatically elevate players around him but he can make a good situation even better. He is capable of that. Some QB's aren't. I am not sure Dak is able to do that and he is in a similar "class" as Goff, IMO.

I would take a QB like Goff over any QB the Panthers have played since Cam. There are very few elite QB’s right now: Mahomes, Burrow, Allen might be about it. Stafford was elite but not sure he still is. There are others that could one day have a possibility to be elite.

I would say maybe 8 in a tier by themselves and all but 2 where picked in the top of the first

allen

pat m

stroud

burrow

jackson

hurts (maybe)

Herbert

Stafford

I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.

The Hurney trade up denial clearly being a mistake in hindsight, likely influenced the big trade up in 2023. That's so Panthers.

We gotta be the only fanbase talking about Daniel Jones as a potential replacement QB lol

Man this place can be depressing at times.

We have one of the only guys Jones might better than, playing every Sunday 'for' us.

I have never been a fan, didn't watch him in college nor in NYC (or Jersey to be accurate), and I only watched him in the Munich game.

If he comes into focus for the Panthers, I will then look but talk about replacements is going to happen and when you are as poor in the QB department as we are, that will naturally include some iffy players.

Why would you take a failed QB from a bad team and think he would fare better on a far worse team?

Did it work with Teddy? Dalton? Baker?

If he needs rehab from addiction to sucking, we are not the place for it. This is a Hoover factory.

You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance and if he does not work out, cut him and look for another.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jones' problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.  Not giving him a shot is like a starving man turning down a hamburger because he thinks steak is better.  You draft a QB too--why is this so damn hard--because he sucked on a bad offense?  Most QBs would...Now I do not know why the are cutting him, but if you forget the performance on a bad team, you look at skills and potential--but I assure you, he was verbally abused in NY and it gets to you--crushes your confidence.  Bring him home, let him regroup and see what he can do--why is that so outrageous?  You like Bryce?  You think we are drafting Cam Ward?  What is your plan?

so fuging weird, its almost like you are related to him or something.  There are 6 fuging years of tape on him and he fuging sucks.  I dont give two shits about his age, his arm, his mobility, a new change of scenery he fuging sucks.  Sorry if you simply dont see it.  Its counterproductive to bring him in for Gods knows what.  So he looks good in practice, so fuging what he sucks when the game clock starts.   And I am pretty damn certain Morgan and canales are not betting their futures on danny dimes.  Your "bottom fishing" method is fuging stupid, its not a plan its throwing poo against the wall to see if it sticks.

You talk about weapons and the dude had barkley and struggled to win 5 games.   I am not sure why you are dying on this hill but you look like a fool doing it.

I am very sorry you can't comprehend this very simple concept.  The fact that YOU think he sucks is not factored into anyone's evaluation--so you are trying to force your view into fact--the fact is, you kick the tires on every QB until you have one.  Now, enough of this dumbassery.
