We finally get to see Brooks this week

Regarding Canales, looking for him to not be out coached is probably not the best criteria to go with.

That is going to happen. This is Canales year of getting schooled. You learn later on if he is getting it. And it it probably isn’t a one year thing. He’ll be a sophomore next year, still facing professors.

Eager to get a sneak peek at Brooks! I'm not expecting him to set the world on fire, but any positives he shows before getting a full NFL offseason complete with strength & conditioning (rather than spending the offseason having to rehab his knee) will be more than welcomed.

Fingers crossed we get to see his vision effectively utilized as that was one of his major strengths as a prospect.

Honestly, we are gonna need to pass in this game. This is the 3rd ranked rushing defense but the 16th ranked passing defense.

So our strength is going against their strength.

Our "strengths" don't actually move the needle on the dials they are judged against.

This is a JV squad taking on the local college team.

But hey, I'm still hoping our little guys learn a lot and have some fun moments.

The question is, can he survive to get to that third year?

I suspect next year is also going to extend our streak of losing seasons so Tepper is going to have to be much more patient than he has been so far. I rather doubt Canales makes it far into season three, if he even makes that if he isn't close to .500 after 2025.

I don't think it will be a complete stomping at all. That's not really the 2024 KC team. They have only scored 30 points once this season(shootout versus TB) and their biggest margin of victory has been 13(vs. the Saints).

I guess they clearly show better versus the NFC South but not THAT good. Not by their recent years standard.

I dont think the clock has started yet on canales.  Once he gets his guy then the pressure starts.  WFNZ/mike kaye said  yesterday that he thinks there are 4 options here regardless of bryces status, Geno, Fields, Wilson maybe Jones.

they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.

but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are.

i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.

I mean.....his guy has to be someone willing to come so Geno Smith is out. If you mean RUSSELL Wilson, that is laughable.

Fields and ZACH Wilson are just basically the beginning of the end. These aren't likely to be Geno Smith turnarounds. Fields is further proving that he just isn't much more than a gimmick player. Zach Wilson still probably needs a year or two under some better circumstances before I would consider him a candidate for being a turnaround. He is just jumping straight back into the NY Jets fire here.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.

    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
