The huddle literally sucks right now. You guys could make a clown sad. Miserable mofos can't even enjoy back to back wins and improvement from the most important player on the team. Just forget it. It's all over. Throw it away. Sell the team to Yemen.

Careful. There was someone in here the other day saying something about optimism needing to be purged or stamped out like some kind of little message board despot.

What is your definition of improvement? He is statistically bottom of the league amongst all qualified passers for the season.

Maybe instead of constantly trying to police one another we just engage each other as normal people and simply take or leave one another's opinions considering none of us have any say on what transpires.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being optimistic just as there is absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging factual verifiable data that says our QB room is the definition of the opposite of good and we've barely beaten two of the worst teams in the league one of which fired their head coach shortly after and the other benched their starting QB and their coach is on a very hot seat.

Hey! I'm ready for Sunday! 🙃

You might be right. If I bought in on Young, I'd be feeling better. He is starting to ascend from horrendous to mediocre but the limitations are still there. I have given him credit for trying and standing in there and stepping into a throw under pressure. I mean, yeah he needs to do that for sure and had been afraid to. It is part of the job. He figured out poo was serious and if wants to play that's what it takes. Kudos.

Unfortunately man, most of what I see from those wins is we dropped way down our draft position and more people are buying into a player that has almost reached his ceiling. It is purgatory. Quicksand. And keeps us in this poo state another year. Or worse, they do what the NYG did with Jones and then we are really trapped. We were trapped into two years, but are so close to not being trapped anymore. Almost there - unless this is good enough for people. And it is for so many out there, apparently. it is like a sentence to me.

The rest of the players are supported by me and I can discuss them in a more optimistic tone, and do. I can't lie about Bryce Young to keep you in that bubble.

Nah frank. Improvement doesn't mean good. No one on this board thinks Bryce or Dalton are good. I think we should be able to objectively acknowledge that Bryce has shown Improvement the last 3 games, without crapping on him and the team every time someone is positive.

And I get it. There are different types of fans and most are bipolar. I've been at parties where fans were literally crapping on Dak and Lamar last season. Not realizing how much worse it could be.

The huddle has had its bipolar moments in the past (with Cam and Jake) but this is the worst it's ever been. The defense  could shut out the Chiefs and a group here would find a reason to downplay it. Bryce could throw for 200 yards and 3 TDs and it'd get picked apart. But you're right. We should accept each other's point of view and keep it civil and... maybe show a hint of optimism. Sports are supposed to be entertainment and make you happy. Right?

I hear you bro, but you really don't know what the kid will turn out to be. None of us do. He is 5 games into his 2nd year.  Why not be entertained when he shows some improvement while actually winning games? And yes. He will likely look horrible against the Chiefs and the team will likely lose by alot. This a young team with little talent. But we can still cheer for them. They aren't tanking and no one is giving up - that I can see. Except maybe Diontae, but he's gone now. That says a lot about the leadership.

The average sports fan is a meathead. I actually think the huddle is better than some other communities.

And let's be honest regarding the at times lack of civility around here. We used to have regulars who were fans of other teams. We've been so bad for so long those days are long gone. If people think the difference of opinion we share as fans of the same team is bad I don't think some folks here would have stuck around for those days where rival fans used to pop in here to bust our chops. Smack Central used to be a very frequented subforum. Some people have definitely taken on an echo chamber mentality. That's not to stay there is anything wrong with that necessarily but it is something worth noting in comparing this iteration of the huddle to years past. That's why to me the constant groaning about negativity is met with an eye roll. I'm not directing that at you or anyone in particular just speaking in general.

As far as Sunday goes. If we knock off the Chiefs at home it will undoubtedly be a full team effort. Idk about everyone else as I can't speak for them but that would go a long way for me in reestablishing a culture here. Beating the defending champions is a tone setter. That is a different world from beating the Saints and Giants. So yes I would be very pleased to see this franchise take that kind of step under Canales. But. I think that's a dream scenario as of right now. I'll just settle for keeping it relatively close and not getting embarrassed.

All I can say is the wins are too expensive.

I'm happy for getting guys back on defense. I wonder what the return of Thielen does to/for the WR/QB dynamic. Brooks. That is what I am focusing on.

I remember those days, i guess most have taken to Twitter etc. but the smack talk used to be very entertaining.  We're basically invisible to other fans now, other than Bears fans who are still trying to make themselves feel better due to the horrible trade.
