Martin is the polar opposite of Kochetkov in net. There's a calmness, a smoothness to Martin's play that almost makes Kochetkov look frantic. Martin, even when hit or going down to the ice seems in control, his heads always forward, where the puck is. Seems like he always has his glove and stick in good position.

I think with more playing time he will continue to improve and settle into his comfort zone, with Freddie out long term or maybe for the season, I could see him fitting into the rotation nicely.

I mean, he isn’t exactly a young buck. He has been on and off in the NHL since 2016-2017. Also toting a career GAA of 3.49 and a SV% of .887.

We generally make goalies look better with our system than they actually are. Relying on Martin long term is going to be a tough proposition.

To be fair, his stats are not good on the bad teams he played on. His stats are actually good with the good teams.

Look at his season splits and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The Canes keep winning and scoring four plus goals a game without one their 65+ point forwards.

Meanwhile Martinook is on pace for 58 points, Ghost is on pace for 62 points, and Jackson Blake is on pace for 25 goals.

And Roslovic is playing the season of his career with 9 goals tied with Necas. Necas has finally reached his potential with a team leading 26 points already.

He has only really ever played well here, TBH. To that point, that is his first career shutout in 54 career starts.

I think we can win some games with him but he is also likely to be the sole reason we lose some games.
