Carolina may not "be sold" on young (per athletic)

Thats the thing, fans like that ONLY congregate on Twitter. You will never see them on this forum or another one or stream discussion panel to back the bs they spew because Twitter is where you can just type anything no matter how ridiculous it is because its okay to do that there....plus they will say anything for attention and likes. Lol

Yeah and it makes all the fair weather fans who don't pay attention think they are being serious. Then when we cut/fire/trade somebody they freak out all over social media.

Like WHEN we trade Bryce this offseason, all the people that barely pay attention will be "outraged".

For the folks that haven't read the original article that led to the recent clickbait, here is the section being referenced:

Quote

Canales will continue doing the QB dance. It’s unclear whether Canales has kept his quarterback decision under wraps in recent weeks to keep the next opponent guessing (Andy Reid isn’t losing sleep) or as a motivating tool for Bryce Young. But after two consecutive wins, Young has earned another start, even if Canales isn’t saying it yet. There are signs Canales doesn’t view Young as the long-term answer. But last year’s No. 1 pick at least is playing with more confidence since reclaiming the job when Andy Dalton sprained his thumb in a car accident. “I see a guy that’s been engaged in the process the whole time, and then to just watch him grow from one week to the next,” Canales said. “Come out there with confidence to execute.”

Both guys have handled this well. Dalton made it clear before the second New Orleans Saints game his thumb was healed and he wanted to play. Of course he does. Dalton was handed the job and then heard his coach say repeatedly Dalton gave the team its best chance to win. Both quarterbacks could have made this difficult for a first-year head coach. Neither has. Credit to them.

Dalton will get another crack. This was among my predictions for the second half of the season. The Panthers are about to enter a murderer’s row schedule stretch against Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia. If Young stumbles in one or more of those, don’t be surprised to see the Red Rifle behind center again, even though the more prudent play would be to stick with Young to see if he can be the guy going forward.

He points out that Canales didn't declare Bryce the starter and suggested that there were signs that he wasn't sold on Bryce... only to not list any of those signs. Some fans have decided to fill in the blanks themselves with whatever they want.

Nobody needs to fill in any blanks. I don't think any head coach with a sound mind would be sold on this:

37th in total passing yards

40th in passing yards per game

40th in passing yards per attempt

42nd in passer rating

38th in completion %

Pretty sure Canales still wants to be a HC beyond 2025, so I doubt Bryce is in his plans for the future. Or at least as a primary QB.

Regardless of who is QB in 2025, claiming that there "are signs" only to not list anything that Canales has done to show that said signs exist is wildly irresponsible.

Then again, it's Joe Person, the same beat reporter that needed David Newton to exist so that he was no longer the worst person covering the Panthers.

Not naming him the starter

Saying Dalton gives us the best chance to win

Not committing to Bryce past this week

I mean come on there are plenty of signs we all see them

This is a prime example of somebody that hates Young filling in the blanks themselves.

  • Canales already stated that it does not give them a competitive advantage to tell opponents which QB they're starting until required. This has been consistent.
  • Dalton did give them the best chance to win when comparing his first game this season to Bryce's first two. However, Bryce has as many wins in the last few weeks as Andy has had in the last two years. Saying Andy gives them the best chance to win given that data just doesn't make sense.
  • He committed to Bryce this week. Last week the team was on a Bye with no opponent, therefore there was no commitment to make. By just using basic pattern recognition skills, it wouldn't have made sense for him to name the starting QB during a week when the team wasn't playing.

People will see the signs that they want to see unless it's made crystal clear (and even then, they'll still choose to believe whatever makes them feel better). Joe insinuating that there are signs without actually pointing them out irresponsibly enables the behavior quoted.

Ah yes if someone disagrees with your viewpoint the only possible reason could be hate. From the same poster that spent all of training camp trying to run people off for differing from your POV on Bryce.

I've seen hate from this fanbase. When we were actually contending and he was still in his prime some people hated Cam Newton and muttered under their breath when we won.

This is not that. We have some of the worst QB play in the entire league amongst all qualified passers not just starters.

I saw Dalton have a bad day and a not too good day but feel like his floor is not as low as Young's and his ceiling is higher by a good bit.

I expect on any given day against any level of defense the offense will just look much better with him running it.

people will see the signs until it’s made crystal clear and then they will come up with Dave Tepper meddling conspiracies  (which won’t totally be unfair to Tepper, but will be a coping mechanism in this instance nonetheless)

anyone who has seen Bryce and Canales yup it on the sideline should have a hard time believing this is anything other than him trying to push the right coach buttons. It’s worked so they aren’t “fixing” it.

seems pretty obvious that everyone is just in wait and see mode with Bryce. He either plays them out of a top pick and renders a new QB discussion pointless-or he doesn’t, and we’re talking QB.

anyone trying to take more than that from the situation is projecting.
