Can something be done about this referee bias against the Panthers?

I will start by saying I think the NFL and the referees have been obviously bias against the Panthers since…Super Bowl 50.  Including that game this team has been disrespected by bad calls or horrible non calls consistently.  Is this because we are/were a bad team?  It feels extremely strange to me that against the Raiders the year we were big underdogs and suddenly we cover and get a lot of favorable calls.  If I’m just crazy tell me cuz it is so obvious but maybe I am just seeing ghosts.

Root for someone else? The refs have never favored a North Carolina team unless you are a Dukie.

The refs are at their worst when we actually matter. Once we're off the radar they usually do a decent job. The 49ers vrs Panthers playoff game nearly drove me insane with how bad the refs were. I swear Ron was screaming at the refs nonstop, and I lost my voice partly. Then things got really bad the following seasons when refs let opposing defenses hit Cam helmet to helmet for a while. Then it became national news and Cam started flailing and flopping to point out when he was getting his brains bashed in. THEN the refs knew the HAD to call it or it would be all over the national news and ESPN. The Panthers have a long and painful history with the refs, and with other teams outright cheating against us (see the Pats/Panthers SB). If we become good again one day the refs will 100% favor the more popular team we're playing. No doubt about it. The easiest way to do it is to call bs holding on the o-line on critical plays in the game. Nick knack holding where you can barely even see the hold for a split second is Panthers special.

Why am I not surprised it's you that starts this thread?

    • I can tell you this:  I was a fan of Cam the football player and I used to tell Huddlers that Cam would have a short career and the ripped me.  My thinking, he was not that accurate (overthrew a lot) and his incredible athleticism would save the day.  I compared his career to that of a RB--when his legs start to diminish and his body has taken a beating, he will be a liability.  Not to say I was right--I hated it when I saw it. Here is how I was wrong:  I saw Cam acting like a "showboat" during games--hamming it up---the "Look at me" virus. I thought that is disrespectful to teammates.  I saw him doing it at the first practice at BOA when he was a rookie in August.  Then I started watching practices.  With no audience, he was the same way when it was just his teammates.  It was passion, not attention-seeking, and his teammates loved him and he loved them. A few years earlier, I watched Steve Smith at an OTA.  He was berating Wayne Jarrett.  I noticed than none of his teammates approached him or wanted to talk to him.  He was a loner--except, oddly, John Kasay.  He and Kasay seemed close.  Cam deserves a statue, picture, and banner in our stadium. He should be an ambassador.  Smith, on the other hand, punched teammates twice and badmouthed the franchise when he went to Baltimore.
    • No, My reasoning is that we don't know what happened behind the scenes, and all the former players who were invited have been more involved with the Panthers on a regular basis. It's the equivalent of not speaking to a friend in years, then finding out later that he's upset because he wasn't invited to your party.
    • We'll stop complaining about the massive mistake we made with Bryce overlooking his obvious lack of physical talent when we start fielding a competitive football team again. Until then... well, it sucks to suck. But really there's plenty of other talk. Bragging about our revamped OL. Hope with our young WRs. Chuba is balling out, etc. You're just finding what you want to find. Meanwhile, five posts in and you're already going political on the football forum. I know where this is headed. Enjoy Discord.
