Most overrated player in Panthers history. Good riddance.

I feel like I'm going insane when I hear basically anyone related to the NFL outside of Carolina talk about how good Burns is. The commentators during this last game were gushing all over him, and indirectly implying that the Panthers were fools to let him go. It's infuriating that he gets away with only having one or two above average plays per game, and he gets called elite for it. Oh well, not our problem anymore.

It's because he gets 8 or 9 sacks per season on plays where he's basically left totally unblocked.  Like his sack this game.

As we beat on Burns, let's also not suggest that he "sucks." He is an outstanding pass rusher and generates a lot of QB pressures. He just isn't elite and he isn't a finisher. Similarly, he is excellent and pursuit and running down plays but gets beat up at the point of attack.

Otherworldly athletic ability, without question.

The commentators are paid to pump up players. It doesn't have to be true because fans will believe it because they said so.

Getting manhandled by rookie WRs in the run game is just fuging embarrassing but also completely expected for Burns. The guy will always be a liability in the run game when you run right at him. He's a good pursuit tackler in the running game but he can't set an edge for poo. Never could. Probably never will.

And right before the game started, the sideline commentator relayed all of this rhetoric from Burns saying he was going to play with all of this passion and intensity due to the situation. Also saying he was so shocked the Panthers traded him in the offseason. This is why, you are single handedly without question taken out of numerous plays per game by WRs, TEs, and over pursuit! if Legette holds his block longer yesterday, he doesn't get the gift wrapped sack on the 1st drive. Guy is a bum to be honest. What an albatross of a contract!

You know, I am less butthurt about not making that trade in hindsight. Remember, that same goiter would have been the one making those picks.

Would he?  He got fired before the first one would have come up.  Would he have earned another year of patience because he sold off Burns?  I kinda doubt that.  I think that's the reason he didn't do it.  "No way I survive another year if I sell of my best pass rusher" kind of logic.

    • And I'll say it again. We really need some opposing viewpoints from other fans here again. Some people have resided within an echo chamber for too long.
    • I think we are almost all universally very happy to see the Bryce 2.0 version we saw for the last part of the season but even as a former and ardent Bryce stan, he had a LOT to prove for me to want to lock him into a future mega-contract.
    • Reach according to who? You?  Did the texans reach for Stroud? did the panthers reach for bryce? Did the Broncos reach for Bo nix? You are forgetting everything is opinion and subjective. And you seriously brought up a diamond necklace like most players don't wear Jewlery during games right now. All you did was reinforce the fact that players have to look a certain away to come off as confident with the things they say. Thats all Shedeur is, he wasnt even gonna do the pro day. It was reported that the reason he was out there was because other late round draft prospects were participating, and it wouldn't have been as many eyes as possible out there to see them if Shedeur sat out. So the guy was just actually helping out his teammates.  Yesterday wasn't about interviews, it was about displaying your talent on the field for NFL teams looking to draft you. If you have been actually paying attention to all the chatter, everything about shedeur has been regarding his on-field skills and ability, his personality and what he wears hasn't even been a discussion among analyst and talking heads. They have actually defended him on his confidence and personality. Thats just coming from you. FYI
