This is such a stupid take - why does this even still have a thread?  How are you supposed to get better as a team?  As a franchise?  Deliberately lose games but run the plays in a way so you still look like you COULD have done it at a high level if you wanted to?  THEN when you have 3-4 years worth of 2-win seasons and secretly successful drafts that look like complete failures with guys missing Pro Bowls, bonuses, endorsements - your franchise losing millions of dollars in revenue due to sucking, you suddenly FLIP ON THE WINNING SWITCH and give everyone a James Doakes moment?

You cannot see progress if you play to fail - period.  You cannot build a culture by losing - period.  You cannot keep your job by losing - period.  You cannot attract talent by losing - period.

Are we done here yet?

You cant see progress playing bottom 5 teams either, talk to me after the chiefs falcons and bucs game see how that progress looks then

I don't know why you'd think this. You can absolutely progress as a team by playing against teams that are at the same level as yours. We've got a lot of young guys that need reps, and the fact they're performing is really exciting.

Unless you somehow think the #1 pick is worth sacrificing any development etc... as if that pick always works out.

And let's be realistic, we're still gonna be picking top 10 when all is said and done.

Lol, maybe proving worthy of being a 7th round draft pick...

Dude throws for a combined 300 yards and 2 TDs in 2 games and all of a sudden the talking heads think he is proving he is the best player of the 2023 draft... Can't make this crap up

NFL Network gave him player of the game instead of Chuba.  They're pushing the narrative.

When Chuba got folded like a pretzel I thought that was the end. Nothing BY had done to that point had given me any confidence that he could pull off a game winning drive on his own.

Bottom 5 teams still have Pro Bowl players to match up against.  You absolutely still see progress.  You really need to disappear and drop this.  Doubling down is insane.

If your strategy is to lose, no one wants to play for you.

I would always rather have a team that fights than who is told to lay down.

A team that fights is one to still be proud of. A team that chooses to win is a true embarrassment greater than any other.

Fight on.

Seriously this whole tank strategy is the worst idea that could ever be dreamed of in competitive sports.

It's a strategy for cowards and weak minded individuals.

And the strategy, or more accurate word, hope, of strong minded individuals is to want your team to show fight and be competitive in all the games, but still end up losing all of them in the end to help your draft pick.

That's VERY different than tanking and trying to lose.

If you think winning a couple extra games at the end of a season like this is going to be the tipping point for Free Agents to want to come here vs not coming here, then I have some beachfront property to sell you in Arizona.

A team can show progress and fight, but still lose games, which is what a true fan should be hoping for right now.

I've never understood how "real" fans can say, "yea I hope we win these couple games, in a completely lost season, to feel good for a few hours, at the detriment to helping my team win consistently for the next decade"

Because in the NFL, picking 5 spots later, even still in the Top 10, can have a MASSIVE ripple affect for years later.  Just look at us a few years back, if we were 1 pick earlier in 2020, we could have ended up with Justin Herbert and had an offense of Herbert, CMC, and DJ.

Sure, I know we didn't win a bunch of games down the stretch in 2019 to hurt our pick that year, but it just proves that at the top end of the draft, every draft slot can have massive ripple affects because of the type of talent that you can get there at such key positions.

You'd think some people would be tired of losing by now.

FYI, these are the same folks that complain about Wild Card/Divisional Round losses. They want to just tank until they feel like they have the perfect team, which very very rarely happens.

The two seasons we went to the super bowl, it was complete surprises based on pre-season expectations.

I know its a stupid mock draft but most of them this morning do not have Ewers going in the first round, which is a bit baffling to me, most have Ward sanders top 5 with Milroe sneaking in here and there, but getting QE in the 2nd would be nothing short of amazing

You know the drill, first round QBs only get heavier in numbers the closer to the draft it gets, not lighter. Unless Ewers falls off a cliff or keeps getting injured, he'll end up being projected as a first rounder as time goes on.  I'm not convinced Milroe comes out.  Even if he does, he's got a LOT to polish about his game.  Great deep ball arm, athletic, but hasn't quite pieced it all together yet.  He may come out, but it would be a year early, IMO.

So that's the goal see progress against bad teams, forget showing improvement against teams that are actually good. You must think bullying is OK also. Watch what playoff teams think about your progress.

I think we should just go ahead and forfeit every game for 10 years so we can build the ULTIMATE team. Think about it, nothing but #1 overalls spanning an entire decade. We'll usher in a new era of dominance of the likes this league has never witnessed.

And he also was drafted into a position he didn't have to start right away and could learn under one of the greatest offensive minds in the game. Situation matters as well as talent.

This, 100%. We are talent deficient everywhere. We are not a QB away, yet people want us drafting like we are. We are going to run into the same situation as Bryce where we throw a kid to the wolves. This offense is far from a finished product. I'd like to see us add another receiver and continue the development of XL and Coker. We need a new center (Corbett's health isn't reliable enough). We also need competition at the tackle spots and additional depth at guard.

And as far as the Defense is concerned, they are extremely mediocre and we need help everywhere, particularly on the defensive front.

Let's address these holes, let Bryce continue to play out his rookie deal, and see where we are in 2026. I also wouldn't mind taking a late round flyer on one of the Will Howard/Kyle McCord's of the world to see if we can find a diamond in the rough. I doubt it, but spending a pick that late and it not hitting is far less detrimental than an early miss.
