This. Bryce is showing that he might potentially have a future as a backup. That is a big improvement for him.

His recent stint would be fine for a backup. His play is honestly a lot better, it just isn't translating to huge yardage / scores yet, and might not since he's still pretty meh even at his current best.

This exactly.   These days people refuse to see reality.  He has clearly improved if you watch him play.  Is it good enough to be the long term qb?  Probably not, but it's clearly enough to make the people who are sure he's not the qb answer start to sweat to make useless posts where they refuse to acknowledge that he has clearly improved or make topics immediately after wins to mock his stats.  He has looked better.  How much better?  That's a matter of opinion, but anyone going out of their way to not acknowledge that is delusional.

No one is denying he’s improved, but it’s just not in the stratosphere of being a good  enough return for the investment

This. Bryce has improved from not looking like he belongs on an NFL roster period to looking like he could potentially carve out a legit career as an NFL backup. If you're watching him play and you're seeing a starter you need to schedule an appointment with an optometrist pronto because your ass is going blind.

Now you have fans saying they don't care if bryce has to hand the ball off all game long as we win. So if that is the case what's to point him playing for development then?? Hand offs aint gonna make him a better qb. The stupidity is insane at this point.

He's regressing hard for sure. I always wondered how he'd handle the adversity that would definitely come at the next level. When he went running crying to momma it was like... oh man... that ain't the guy

Crazy he still has a higher qbr than bryce young this year 81 vs 66.9.  even if you just look at byoungs qbr in just the last two games its just 58.5 and 47.9

Bryce ain’t no Copper. He seems like he would be a good dentist tho

1. Tried and failed at real <something> (nfl, actual medicine, etc) OR didn’t get into veterinarian school

2. Not able to handle actual responsibility

3. would probably raffle off a Blackstone for Google reviews

4. has a good smile

yeah I could see it. I don’t this Bryce is at a huge risk of cheating on his spouse tho. Not with female dental hygienists anyway.

Young's feet are still all over the place and also still tip toeing it just not as bad as before.

He does this little hop so quickly but it is still there..

which I imagine DC sees this and knows its never going to change, and his accuracy on longer throws will forever be iffy

Did the Panthers play with a lead? If so. For how much of the game?

So what's the plan - once you get a lead you shut it down?

Seems counterintuitive. You'd think you'd want to extend that lead...

You know what backups should do?  Don't turn the ball over and let the team carry them.

You know what first overall picks should do?  Pick up the team and carry them.

Everyone must decide which fits BY9.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
