Scott Fowler on Bryce Young

I really believe the playbook is simple because of so many rookies and a 1st year offense. New O-line players (but vets) with now a 2nd year center. 3 rookies at WR and TE. I hope as they grow it keeps opening up and Canales feels he can trust them. Same on defense. Rookie MLB, rookies on the DL. A rookie at slot DB. But right now he's always said, just do the basics and be good at it, then you can develop into more.

Good steps early enough to save the season as in it gives the team and fans hope for the future as to they are building in the right direction. A good showing, even if we lose against KC will be another nice step forward.

They've literally asked Young to highlight which plays he likes - which will make up the bulk of HIS playbook.

I'm sure Canales has gone through the same playbook and taken out plays that have multiple throws in that Young simply cannot make.

The result is what you see on the field on Sundays.

125 yards against  the  Giants should tell you

A game in which the team lead the whole way until the end. The running game was doing what it was supposed to do, and the giants couldn't keep it contained.

I'm not saying Bryce is amazing.

I'm saying the stats reflect the game that we played.

Pretty simple to see that.

We will chat again about Bryce after KC

yes the team did what it had to do but most of Young’s yards came in the first half

It was also pretty simple to see in the second half, he left a lot of opportunities on the field and that almost led to a loss

the defense is not going to have interceptions and fumble recovery and the offense, a 150 yard runner every week to make up for him

i wish him no ill.  In my eyes, he is a backup at best

I think Bryce has looked much better lately but it’s still not anywhere close to good enough. If we ever need him to do more he’ll be shut down.

I'm not disagreeing with anything that you said here.

I personally feel he should be doing better,  although the fact remains,  he didn't have to carry the team, and right now, I don't believe anybody really ants the team to be in position for him to have to carry it.

There is improvement since the bye--but what bothers me about it is Bryce's reaction to going from terrible to well below average.  Sure, the Panthers were winning, but Raleigh is right--he missed a lot of throws that would have blown the game open.  Technically, he struggled to win a game against an equally-bad team whose QB was struggling more and will probably be benched.   The celebration, the smiling, the basic euphoria he seemed to display is almost upsetting.  He has cost the fanbase two seasons, draft picks, a top WR, etc. and he has made millions doing it, and he has a good game and clicks his heels.  In fact, I go back to his benching and how upset he was about it.  I worry that Bryce has no idea of how high the bar is and what we expect from a #1 draft pick.  He seems entitled and spoiled.  He has two levels--happy and smiling or pouting.  I want to see fire.  THAT is what bothers me about him.  Can he improve?  Maybe, but it must start between his ears.  Right now, even his winning pisses me off a bit.

Yes to all

…and does not feel pressure…particularly up the middle …or he bails too quickly footwork still not there

We cheer things fundamentals that a number 1 pick should know

i truly believe Canales knows his ceiling is his floor

I think either

1. He will be traded before the draft

2. Or the Panthers will draft a qb, bring in a veteran and if they keep Young, he will have to earn his position

doubt he cares…38 million guaranteed says he doesn’t.  Nice kid but he isn’t getting paid to be nice

The internet at large has lost the ability to have any nuance.

It's ok to evaluate Bryce and come away with the conclusion that while he looks much better than weeks 1 to 2, he still hasn't proven he's a franchise QB. Both can be true statements.

My thing is at this point, just play him, we either find out we have something or we don't. It's not like were missing out on a top flight QB this draft anyway.

Now come 2026 it will be decision time on if he's the future or not

Amen.  I don’t see understand how he has had a job with The Charlotte Observer as long as he has.  He’s terrible at his job.  Only thing I like about him is that he gets under Tepper’s skin at his press conferences.

That is about the only thing I like too. Before that, for decades.... big meh.

The hopium though, it is too powerful to fool with and it only takes a little taste to set people back to June of 2023. It fucvking dangerous and it needs to be removed from influence.

And what gives you the right and authority to decide what anyone should think or believe? I hope you are not serious with that crazy talk.

I got the same right as anyone else on here, but it isn't crazy talk.  It is a basic opinion and prediction. Ignore it and enjoy the rewards.

Get that kid out of here or we are fuged for year three.
