Who wants Bryce to fail?

Whatever man. The receiver play, scheme, OL, running game, TEs, everything on that side of the ball is better this year relative to last year, full stop, and Bryce still doesn't produce the same. Dalton sucks too, make no mistake.

The bar really is so very low right now that this is even a discussion at all. Bryce sucks, Dalton sucks less at times, and throwing for 125 yards is not something to be celebrated as 'improvement' by any QB unless it's meme-worthy like Weinke's wildcat game.

The line and running game is better, the receivers right now are not. And produce the same too what?

And again I ask watching the film of the last couple of weeks what do you want from Bryce? Do you want him not to miss any throws? He probably has lost 200 yards to drops and penalties alone over the last two weeks .

I don’t think he’s playing great but he’s not hindering the team, he’s not missing a bunch of throws. It’s not like Coker and  XL are burning defenders on film

Winning games and making smart decisions, checked those success boxes today. Made clutch throws when he needed to and looks more poised and confident. Progress

I am not ready to draft another QB.  Many here wanted Caleb and he looks mostly terrible right now.  If Bryce can keep going we invest in rest of the team. Only when we ‘re actually a QB away do we need to reassess if Bryce is holding the team back.

Yup.  You nailed it.

Am I the only one who feels conflicted?  Fan since a team was announced so close to me in '93 (used to be a Redskins fan).  Never faltered as a fan, ever.

However, I watch Bryce and for some reason I try to justify that pick at #1.  Like maybe he's learned something sitting on the bench while Dalton played a few games.  I was totally on board with Bryce getting kicked to the curb several weeks ago.  Like 100%.  But watching these last couple of games, I hate to admit that I'm pulling for the guy.

Am I the "bad guy" for saying so?  I have no clue.  I'm so conflicted that I've confused myself.  I love the Panthers and just want the best for them.  I think our receivers are looking decent to good, 1-3 potentially looking great including the TE.  Chuba looked great after getting his extension which is rare in my experience of watching.  But I'm just torn on the rest.

I hate to wish bad on Bryce.  And at the same time like his *decent* play the last couple of weeks.  Am I just wanting more than what's there?  Again, I've never wavered as a fan since the announcement in '93.  I've been through the horrible years, regardless of owners.  I have my personal opinions of Tepper.  But I'm watching Bryce and just hoping to God that he keeps improving.

If someone can just destroy my hopes and that we have absolutely NO choice but to wait for another 1st string QB, please destroy me.  I'm just trying to find light in this team I've loved for over 30 years.  But I know it may not be possible as far as QB goes.

Here's the way I see it. In the 20 games he's played so far, we haven't seen 1 complete performance that you would expect from an NFL quality starting QB.

If they want to keep Bryce, fine. But don't stop actively looking for another starter level QB either. Dalton is going to be 100 next year (in NFL years) and we need to replace him. We should be actively looking to improve the QB position.

Our expectations have been so low it’s hard to know up from down currently.

we’ve won 2 straight which makes you think something’s clicking. Yet Bryce’s numbers are by most standards average to subpar in those two games.

did we win because of him or despite him? How much of his stats are due to drops and penalties.

so many layers. Very hard to judge  and glad I don’t have to make this call at the end of the year if things continue like they seem currently

This is the way I feel and why I'm so confused.  Is he tricking me into pulling for him?  As everyone has said, he seems to be a very likeable person and I don't doubt that.  But for what we gave up for him as a #1 pick, being likeable isn't NFL drafted #1 (after giving up what we did) likeable.

Loved Cam to death and he proved his worth year 1.  But I know he was a once in a lifetime (hopefully not though) talent.

I'm probably just gullible and am trying to pull for any positivity, no matter how small and insignificant.  Love the team but even seeing mediocre play at this point makes me feel uplifted and positive.  Which is kind of sad but, again, I've been a fan since the start so I'm just unfortunately expecting losing seasons, etc.

I completely agree.  It's hard to discern whether he helped the past couple of weeks or was just...there...making bottom-of-the-rung NFL throws.

I'm so torn as a lifelong Panthers fan I don't know what to believe anymore.  I'm just looking for positives.  From the reading of some posts here (I've been a lurker since the start but created an account later), I should always have a negative attitude.  I understand Tepper and our previous GMs.  But it seems like the majority have a negative attitude toward the team and I've just still not accepted it.

Yes, I'm a crazy person who should just accept it, lol.

I think it’s the “we must find our QB” obsession that’s gotten us into trouble in the first place. We have to regain our culture and rebuild the roster. Take the wins and progress as they come and reevaluate in the offseason.

I don't wish Bryce any ill will but don't feel as if he is the future. When he looks a little better then I'm always happy and I will say he does not appear to be playing as afraid as he was. Still has a ways to go but playing a little less scared. I don't hope for bad performances out of him at all and happy to see him improve any at all but at the same time still do not see nearly enough to warrant calling him the future either. Just my honest assessment but I'm never going to get mad if he plays better yet I have not seen enough to say he is the future currently. Let's see what the rest of the season holds.

    • Cam is the GOAT dual threat, but we've never been able to have back to back seasons with winning records despite the late season surge winning streaks, my favorite being the year we won the south in the 2nd half of the season. But winning 2 games late in the year against bad teams doesn't establish a "winning culture"  If they beat the Falcons bucs once, competitive against the chiefs and eagles i will have no problem with wins then because it's against legitimate competition but beating the giants and saints just to feel good, hard pass.
