Who wants Bryce to fail?

People in the board have Bryce derangement syndrome.

They really believe guys like JT O’Sullivan, Chase Daniel’s have bias on their film breakdowns to pump up Bryce. They blame bad play designs on Bryce, everything wrong with the offense is Bryce’s fault. As if some other QB will come in this offense with a bunch of rookies “with butterfingers” and light up the box score. We just saw a 15 year vet in Dalton play one of the worst games ever recorded a couple weeks ago with the same supporting cast with Johnson. I’m convinced none of them watch football.

Bryce was awful last year, first two games this year. I wanted him gone so bad. I'll admit I'm seeing a bit of progress. His size is still a huge concern, and arm strength, but I have to admit he can show very above average touch. He does seem to be improving.

You have to understand that a large part of the fans on this site (especially ones in this thread) are the exact same as Tepper. I'm talking the exact same. They act like every other quarterback in the league is putting up 500 ads and 4 TD's every game. Someone can have 3 really good games and then 1 bad game and it's "see i told you he is the worst."

The guy has not been in the league long, he has all young guys he is throwing to, on a team with no identity, a broken confidence, with Tepper as an owner. In those circumstances, this is about as much as you should be asked for. And it doesn't matter what stupid trade was used to get you. He didn't make the trade. And that stupid trade does not automatically make you suddenly better at football like many in here. The progress is ok, jury is still out on him starting next year. We have more games.

And many on this site do not watch games and just parrot what they hear. You can tell because they are the 3rd time you heard that day. If you want a perfect example in why you shouldnt pay much attention to these people, just go back and look at who was saying saying Darnold was the worst and we needed him gone immediately. It was so stupidly obvious that getting rid of Darnold at the time we did was the dumbest move you could make at the time. So many knew this out in the real world. Especially in our situation. But you see, the narrative was put out that he had to go, and the slow ones latch on to it and parrot. I'm not going into it but just go back and look, those people have no idea whats going on.

Oh come on. The entire leadup to the draft was near universal praise of and building up of Bryce Young because he played for Alabama while Stroud and other QB's were knocked for everything from their IQ to their leadership ability to their coachability and on and on. Bryce even showed up to the combine and refused to participate and still got a free pass.

It's interesting you go out of your way to trash Dalton but prop up Young. You do know the one game he played last season and the win against the Raiders are 2 of only 3 times we've scored 30 points in 2 years right?

Truth is both of them look like backups. Dalton is only marginally better because he's a vet and will attempt some of those throws Bryce won't pull the trigger on.

Anything else you are trying to convince yourself of is fantasy.

There are some fans that are convinced that Bryce does not have the potential to be an NFL QB that go above and beyond to downplay anything positive he does. They're the same ones that were rolling their eyes at Bryce having under 100yds passing during the second half despite the fact that the Giants were getting their asses kicked in the run game. People like that will do anything they can do to feel like their misery is justified and not that they're... well... just miserable people themselves.

Thankfully, there are a lot more fans that understandably just want to see some competent football before risking being excited for the team again.

The funniest thing about this is clearly when we try to rely on the pass that's when drives stall. What do fans do? They immediately criticize Canales for not running it enough when that's just the equivalent of asking bryce to do less when really we should be trying to see him do more so we can know if he is the future at QB. Running Chuba in the ground doesn't help bryce...and it won't help against teams that are actually good. But if he runs it more he limits bryce, if he throws it more than he us just putting too much on bryce plate setting him up to fail. Say what you want about Canales but he is in a bad spot with Bryce. Lol

no one forced him to take the job, and no other teams even considered him for it. this is what he signed up for.

No matter who took the job this was coming.

And this wasn't a job everybody was scratching and clawing for...some flat out said i dont want it. So that whole angle is mute to me.

afaik the only one who flat out said no was harbaugh. not sure ben johnson was ever formally offered this go around, but he turned down OC in 2023. but we'll never know who was generally interested and who said no.

we do know we probably could have had raheem morris or dan quinn, both of whom interviewed. Almost certainly quinn who would have been a better fit for a rebuilding team, who's having better success than Canales, both in record and with a young qb.

but dave tepper wanted a young OC. could have gone after Monken but I guess he wasn't brat enough or something

Serious question for the box score folks? Did you actually watch the game or are you criticizing purely off 125 yards? An if you did watch the game, what would you say Bryce did poorly?

I watched the game and I pull for him like crazy. That said, realistically and objectively, he simply is very inconsistent concerning his accuracy. The over throw down the side line on third down. He has got to complete that throw. Making that throw is the difference between being an NFL starter and a career backup. That is, he'll have a career but he simply is not accurate enough to have a great career. I said this two years ago.

Him failing means Panthers fail, can’t have it both ways

Not necessarily. What I'm looking at right now is the Head Coach and GM and how their plan is progressing or not. I see improvement. Whether Young is the guy or not, at this point, isn't the biggest issue/question.

I personally don't think he is accurate enough to be a franchise QB. But...the Panthers can improve whether he is or he isn't.

What does have to do with the guys breaking down film?

it’s interesting you bring up Dalton game game from last season when the Seahawks were leading by 17 points in the 4th Quarer so it was a bunch of garbage time yards but those don’t count for Bryce vs Denver, even though Denver’s D is much better than the Seattles.

The truth is most QBs would look bad in the same situation as Bryce. It’s not like he’s leaving a bunch throws on the field the last 3 weeks, at no point was it like the first two games where it was clear it was on film that guys were open and he wasn’t pulling the trigger or flat out missing.

idk what the future holds for Bryce, I don’t believe Canales truly trust him or the the pieces on offense but I’m not putting undeserved blame on him for playing on a bad team.

    • Shaq tore his achilles. I repeat, torn achilles. 10 year vet that didn't make it out of September two years running.  I think he deserves to stick around and prove it but I would not be counting on him being the player he was.
