Why are we wasting money on RBs? Not even 2 years and we overpaid for 2 RBs!

Look at Detroit and understand RBs are still an essential part of winning football. Second, it's not a double trouble type blockbuster deal as Brooks is an unknown on a rookie deal. Chuba has worked hard and earned this contract. It shows good play will be rewarded with loyalty and financial stability. Nothing about this is going to hamper offseason acquisitions or stop us from paying these good young players in four years. Why are you mad at the GM again?

No, no, no!

Detroit has a elite roster. That's not gonna work with this roster. Chubba is a top 3 back yet we are still one of the worst teams in football.

2RB system works when you have a talented roster. We just don't have that and it's not gonna result in wins.

I don't get it either. Nothing against Chuba or his work ethic. But we've seen it over and over in the NFL with Dallas, KC, Philly, etc. Build a monster Oline, which we just did, and put any back behind them and watch what happens. No name backs become stars overnight, sign a big new contract with another team, and disappear into obscurity.

The contract is really reasonable and Chuba has earned it through hard work. it's only 9th highest RB contract and it's only 8.3 million per year.

This is a culture signing more than anything. Show the other guys that working your ass off gets you paid. This helps reiterate the "dawg" mentality that Morgan wants in our players.

Facts.

It's sad people don't see this. RBs are only valuable when they have a roster around them. Chubba is a top 3 RB this season yet our record is what it is. That should tell you his value right there.

Spending money on a RB when you have our roster is just dumb. I'm sorry but it's the truth.

If Chuba finshes out this contract he'll only trail Stewart and Williams on rush yards here I imagine. Locker room guy and  a dawg. I'm on board with it.  If he falls off or gets injusred you only have to pay him for 2 years and let Brooks take over the final year of his rookie deal.

Does Chubba deserve it? Absolutely.

Is it smart business to spend a 2nd round draft pick on a RB then extend the guy he was supposed to replace before he even sees a snap? Absolutely not.

There are too many holes on this roster to be throwing money at an RB right now.

Chuba almost broke 1k yards rushing last year with an inferior offensive line. I don't remember what happened in 2022 but his rookie year he put up decent numbers too. He's been consistent and earned his contract through hard work and play.

If we can just plug and play any RB behind our monster o-line, Miles Sanders certainly isnt working out.

You perform,  you get taken care of. We need to build loyalty and we have to start somewhere. We seen people like Mingo shipped off, I like it to be honest.

Yeah the problem is we paying a guy who isn't really a factor in winning games. He's a top 3 RB and all we have to show for it is 2 wins. This is with a pretty good Oline.

We talking about a RB man.

Detroit didn't have an elite roster when Montgomery first got there. Their offensive line wasn't anywhere near as good as ours when Campbell was hired. You remember running all over them during the Wilks tenure? They have put that team together over the last three years. Dan Morgan is in year one. They drafted their RB in the first round after year two. We drafted ours in the second in year one. The Lions have paid Montgomery twice and only been contenders the last two years. His guaranteed money is higher considering his deal is only for two years. Chuba's is only 5 million more and he's signed for two more years. I am not saying we don't need more talent. I am saying this contract is going to do a whole lot of nothing in handcuffing our money. And stop posting about players quitting after getting a big contract. That is anti-NBA guy stuff and I know you don't view yourself as that. Chuba has worked hard to get better and will continue to do so per his current demeanor.

Also, think about how good Colorado would be if they had a decent RB.
