Why are we wasting money on RBs? Not even 2 years and we overpaid for 2 RBs!

For the record, a brand new contract that lands at #9 among the position for a top 5 guy at the position is a steal. Some of you act like we made him the highest paid (which is usually what happens with a new deal for a top 10 guy)

He has been a top 5 guy for 1 season. Settle down with the elite talk buddy.

That is a very reasonable contract for a guy who has played like a top 10 RB for the past calendar year.

Miles is gone. Chuba & Brooks are the future.

I know it's been easy to crap on everything this team does, but this is the right move.

We are actually building a young core on offense of good players.

If we add another high-end WR (which we will have the money to do), we have a really good offensive core to surround Bryce or whoever the QB is.

If Dan Morgan can improve the defense next year as much as he has the offense this year, i will be impressed, and more importantly, we should have a legitimately competitive team for the 1st time in a long time.

Reasonable takes are a breath of fresh air.

The word elite was in none of my posts. And it doesn’t matter, he’s a top five guy this season and this is the season to extend him. That’s how it works. We were lucky to get him for just the ninth highest contract and not top one or two. He’s a steal for what we paid. Could he start slacking off and it turn into a bad contract? Sure, but none of the evidence of his work ethic would suggest that.

And that's how we ended up with Miles Sanders. Paying for a RB who had 1 great season.

Now that our RB position is good to go I hope we see some success in the win column.

2 back system is a proven system is what they told me. Can't wait to start winning more games with double trouble!

The thing about Chuba that has improved exponentially from his first two or three years is his vision. The run you referenced was a direct result of his excellent vision: being patient, finding holes, running behind blocks, accelerating at the right moment.

100%.  He seriously might be the best 4th rounder in franchise history.  I know that's not a high bar to clear, but still

We can plug any RB behind our OL though right?  It's odd to see you post that but then mention how Miles Sanders is no good.  Which OL is Miles running behind again?  Is it a different one than Chuba?

You win this comment. I can't answer this because you stated a legit counterpoint.

Here's a beer on me.

Not sure I LOVE it or HATE it but we needed more than 1 back to feed next season and Hubbard is in the equation. They must like what they see out of him and you need two backs these days who can move the chains. Maybe they feel Brooks can and Chuba can I guess. Sanders is gone anyhow and will free up some money. I just believe they have seen enough out of Chuba where they feel he fits the culture they want, they like how hard he runs and the effort along with the fact that potentially he is a locker room leader...? I havent heard one way or the other but they are perhaps viewing him also as a leader especially in the RB room and maybe he holds more value than we even know.

This is Chubas one big chance to get a contract more than basic so Im happy for him and I hope he pans out. He was never a bum, he was a young RB that needed to develop badly and improve. We spent the time developing him into a reliable player and he is definitely home grown talent as far as his NFL career. Something tells me that he wont get paid and then slack. You can see it in his play style. He is a grinder and blue collar as hell. Guys like him have a strong motor, cause no issues, are low maintenance and just grind like a mother f**ker. Its not a horrible contract when you look at the numbers and the guaranteed money. I think he will surprise you how valuable he is and becomes in the future.

It boils down to either you believe in Chuba or you don't. For myself I 100% believe in him that he's a hard worker and a leader we want in the locker room.

The issue is this investment paired with all the money we have tied up in the oline now (150 million in a single offseason) and Center is still a position of need going forward.

Then there is the matter of the defense. Other than Derrick Brown and Jaycee Horn and maybe Wallace who has promise it's basically a wasteland. That cannot be understated.

Dan Morgan is walking a tightrope here.

Unequivocally he cannot play games with this QB room next season. Leave no stone unturned creating a real competition and actually have a real fallback plan.

I swear there are like 6 people on this godforsaken website that must be paid just to piss and moan all day in these stupid ass threads, for years on end, about fugging everything. Always something to whine about. If y'all aren't getting paid to professionally bitch about this team at every opportunity you need to reevaluate your lives because that ish is pathetic for grown ass men to be doing.

There are at least 50 other voices of reason in here. They're all smarter than you kneejerking perpetual contrarians. It's a fine contract. Our previous dipstick GM ran this team like some college kid that read a few Investopedia articles on technical trading and started throwing daddy's money at every positive indicator he saw - look what happened when Fitt drafted by RAS because he couldn't identify talent if it was footballs deep in his wife in the war room. It's a football team and this preoccupation with analytics, in this instance the positional value of RBs, is like 30% of the equation. It's not wholly inaccurate, but it requires a lot of context and, going back to the trading analogy, an understanding of the fundamentals. This is a sad, crappy organization that needs some winning attitudes in the locker room and on the field. $15 mil guaranteed over two years is nothing compared to the intangible value he brings, and the message the contract sends, not to mention his stellar work ethic and consistent improvement.

I feel like we should wait another season before considering drafting a QB in the 1st round so that would make me say no to Sanders and Ward. Possibly sign a vet for a season like a Winston or someone else who needs a home and can start.

Defense definitely needs a TON!

What name did you have previously here? Youve been here for years so did you just quietly read as I did for many years or did you have another name before?
