The difference is those teams are competing today.  We're not even close.

So are we in the "good teams don't do this phase" or is it "we aren't a good enough team to do this?"  A strong running game is a good way to get a weaker roster looking better quickly IMO.  Try to control the clock and TOP to speed up the game.  It's also a great way to get a young QB comfortable more quickly in the league.  Again we are talking about 15 million guaranteed over 4 years....

yeah I meant rb but yeah.  Still cannot believe a team didnt offer the ravens anything for him

Most teams figured the Ravens wouldn't actually deal him though and it's valid. An MVP quarterback in his prime? That's career suicide by the part of the Ravens GM. Only someone like Scott Fitterer would be dumb enough for that.

He is just saying you can find really cheap guys to produce in the nfl at the RB position

Apparently the Niners can and other teams that were already mentioned like the Cowboys and Texans could not.  The Niners also make QBs look better and WR looks better.  I mean should we wait and get a QB in the 7th because the Niners have Purdy playing well?  I'd say they are more of an outlier team when it comes to offensive positions and success.

Top 10 RBs in yards

Henry, Barkley, Jacobs, Mason, Hubbard, Conner, Kamara. Gibbs, Robinson, and Pollard.  Most of these guys are paid decent contracts with the Niners player being the outlier.

Competitive windows are all about timing.  We're just spinning our wheels.  The Lions let both of their RBs walk before drafting Gibbs and acquiring Montgomery.  They have a QB, WRs, and offensive line and a defense.

It makes sense to load up while the window is open.  We need to work on opening the window.  Poor allocation of salary cap can make that impossible.  This team is not a QB away.

Not sure about the texans but the cowboys didnt even try.  They thought Zeke was the answer.  Jerry jones is stupid and you can look around the league to see lower drafted guys producing.

Like I said the his contract isnt bad but the allocation of resources to that position is head scratching.   Personally I would never give a 2nd deal out as they rarely seem to work for us.  i would perpetually be drafting a guy in the later rounds.

You would think we would have more salary to add players like RBs since we aren't paying out a QB.  If you can build a roster similar to Detroit I'd go for it.  I don't think that is the plan though.  I think we are building a young offense that can really help a young QB rookie or whoever we go with.  A big expensive OL, strong stable of RBs,  big targets in JT, XL, and Coker etc...  Yeah we need defense too, but we really need to get healthy on defense and see what we are working with.

I honestly didn't like trading up on the 2nd to draft a RB with a torn ACL. That didn't seem like a great move for this roster. But it wouldn't be a bad move if he proved to be a quality starter. But now signing Chuba to starter money on the hells of that? Yeah, that's significant roster building assets tied up in the RB position which has been a hallmark of the Panthers' roster building thought process over the years which has led to zero sustained success on the field.

To play devils advocate gotta start somewhere

our top 3 receiving leaders are now all rookies which sucks now but bodes well for the future

People complain about letting talent walk or trading it. then people complain about paying a starter a starters wage.

Yes we have decent assets tied to our rb room. But if, and it's a big if, they produce a 2nd round pick and 10 mill a year is reasonable.  Double trouble cost 2 1sts and tens of millions

I just showed you the top 10 guys.  They all are getting paid decent minus the Niners situation.  The Texans running game sucked last year so they trade for Mixon and then paid him and it looks much better now.

they are our top wr leaders simply because they are the only ones playing.  Do to poor drafting - mingo, injury - AT and who the fug knows - Johnson there is literally nobody else that can play
