Ginn to 49ers with 5th rnd pick

I think a 6th is a little closer to his value considering Holmes only fetched a 5th but whatever. I still think that was a good opportunity to bring in a playmaker with NFL exp for cheap (picks wise). I really don't get the Panthers. Why are they so dead set on guys that have done nothing in the NFL but will not deal out a 5th for a guy like Holmes.

Holmes was about as low risk - high reward as it gets in trades. Either a playmaking WR with Super Bowl exp or a wasted 5th rounder (oh no and yes I know we didn't have a 5th could have been a player and 6th or 6th and next years 6th). We gave up a 5th for tank tyler for crying out loud.

I think their reasoning is something along the lines of..

1. we're low on draft picks this year, even for a good player at cheap value, we can't afford to do it. especially what could be a big name at receiver when we already have to pay for 2 starting calibre running backs and possibly a franchise qb.

2. there's still the draft, the cuts after the draft. and the training camp casualties.
