Recency bias (and fan bias) but he absolutely tanked the Panthers franchise in just 3 Drafts.

Hired in 2021, fired before the 2024 Draft.

Players that are still on the team (starters highlighted):

Horn, Christensen, Tremble, Hubbard, Ekwonu, Barno, Mays, Young, Johnson, Zavala.

That's horrific.

Not to mention the 4 in purple were the year Rhule was more or less in charge.  So Scott really only managed to take the wrong OT at 6 overall who's still around, and got okay value for Cade Mays.

That's really it in his entire tenure.

How he set us back (beyond the usually advertised blunders):

The short version: from 2022-2023, 16 picks were used (either traded or drafted), and all that remains (currently active) are Bryce, Icky and Mays.  16 picks resulting in 3 questionable players over 2 years.

The deeper dive:

-In 2022, he used 5 picks on 3 guys that barely lasted (Matt Corral, Brandon Smith, & Kalon Barnes).  Icky, Barno, & Mays are all that remains from that class.

-In 2023, he used 9 draft picks and (1) DJ Moore on a 5 player draft class.  Let that soak in.  9 picks and DJ Moore for Bryce, Mingo (gone), DJJ, Zavala, and Robinson (3 that will be gone)

-Not to mention, immensely reached for Mingo ahead of Brian Branch, Tuli, JuJu Brents, Jayden Reed, Rashee Rice, & DJ Turner (to name a few)

-Prior, TMJ was taken not too far ahead of St. Brown and Nico Collins - two of the best WRs in the game these days after JJ/Chase.  Not to mention Nico was a pick we f'n traded out of!

-Made a questionable CMC trade...but the worse part was turning the CMC picks into part of the Bryce & DJ Johnson packages.  Got zilch out of CMC.  Absolutely nothing.

Overall, just the worst management I've ever seen.  So much freaking capital wasted in drafts rather than making sure you were acquiring talent, they were mortgaging picks and the future over their "conviction" of really low floor guys.

And to add to this....the Panthers cap situation was left in a horrible situation too.  Not only did Fittererer pick the wrong FAs, draft the wrong guys, and made the wrong trades......but he someone left the Panthers cash strapped too and at the same time of having the worst record in the NFL. Truly the worst Panthers GM in the past 30-years, and it is not even close.  I still wonder how much of this is due to the Tepper influence.  Could a GM really be this bad on his own?

Well you have the trifecta of Tepper giving Rhule roster control with Fitterer doing his bidding. Then taking it back right? Then Tepper influences stuff in 2023 so hard.  Fitterer was drafting for this staff, then that staff, the owner, mixing in his own ideas, just a fuging confused mess.

How long will Tepper really keep away is the question….and has he really gotten away.

Ha that is two questions. Don't know. It appears so but the Bryce garbage time insertions tell me maybe not.

XL, Coker, JT Sanders, and hopefully Brooks when he gets healthy is solid core of young weapons

yes.  I want to hear from the "Morgan Sucks" crowd on how many draft picks that contribute (remember, we did not have a first rounder and our second rounder #2 has yet to play--so basically, with no first rounder to trade, he got a stud WR, a stud RB (tbd), a solid ILB (raw), a solid TE, and a developmental CB.  Coker is a keeper.  That is a good haul, folks.  If we can do this again, the foundation will form.

I think I read somewhere that a good draft has 3 players contributing (starting, rotating in) within 2 years.

If Morgan can draft as well as he did this year on day 2 and 3, that will be huge.

I also like getting a fourth for Mingo and a seventh.  Mingo got beat out by a practice squad rookie.

5 starter-level rookies and a likely 6th (consensus best RB in the draft) is insane in one off-season! Free agent moves were solid. Injuries hurt the defense alot. Plus traded a 7th round rookie for Michael Jackson who looks like a solid starter. I don't know man. I'm pretty impressed.

I an not a Morgan sucks poster but if they put Brooks on IR for the year it is a major black mark. They fuging better not have taken a guy that can't see the field his entire first year..

He was a full participant in practice today.. They gotta activate him, I'd imagine

I want to see him too but it really is not the end of the world. RB are all about mileage. If he sits a whole redshirt year he will be fresh as a rookie next year.

I'm actually excited to see what Dan can do with all our picks in this upcoming draft. Hoping that while the top flight talent doesn't look great it is a deep draft where we can find quality starters and backups
