We matched our 2023 win total.

Let’s be real. We probably only get to 4 wins max. We will still have a top 5 pick.  Even if we miss out Will Johnson has gotten Pat Surtain like comparisons or grab your first pick of the edges.  It’s nice to win one here and there. Maybe if we show signs of life we won’t have to grossly over pay any free agents to come play defense here next year.

2 last year, 4 this year, 8 next year, 16 the year after that.

If we get back to .500 football my wife may not be thrilled when I go out and buy half a grand or more in new swag.

We gonna mess around and end up with the #8 pick aren't we?

Bad wins are a real. This was a bad win. Playing with fire now would could drop on the draft board.

Nevermind missing out on the QBs. But missing out on Hunter/Tmac would be the epic fail. Those are the only 2 non QBs with game changing talent.

I'm all for winning, but you have to look at the bigger picture. Is a few extra wins worth missing out on those players in the draft?

I will never be sad about a win. If you can't build a football team because of a win, you just don't know what you're doing.

I suggest you get familiar with the big boards, but remember that they're all based upon educated opinions at the end of the day. And, also remember, as was pointed out to you the other day, that mock drafts and big boards aren't equal. There is an argument that big boards ultimately provide a more true reflection of value because they aren't based upon need.

In case you don't get it, I tell you all this to say that there will still be plenty of talent wherever we fall. Being that we need (well) basically everything, we should be just fine.

Exactly, another hogmollie on the D-line and a stud edge rusher is what we need, doesn't really matter what part at the top of the first we take one of those, just needs to hit.

I am not excited by a 1 point win against a depleted team. It is unusual that I don't feel better about it, I think they have me beat down pretty low.

Like, I just want the year to be done and over. And then see where things are headed next, before I can feel better about things.

There is legit talent in this draft, and it doesn't start or begin with Hunter, T-Mac, Ward or Sanders @CamWhoaaCam. Seriously. Why you think there is some magical dropoff after that, I don't know. The closest thing to a polished product is Hunter, and even he is still going to have to make the transition to the pros. There is an argument that Mason Graham is the most sure thing in this draft.

At the top of the draft is the elite talent. I'm not saying there isn't talent in the rest of the draft. If we potentially have a top 5 pick we have to take the best of the best. Hunter/Tmac are clearly those elite game changing players.

Understand me now?

I typically feel this way, but after seeing so often that the highest pick doesn't guarantee a thing I'm on the fence.

Perhaps they are, but that's not a surety. But they aren't the only elite talent in this draft. I doubt we'll move out of the top 10, and elite players come out of the top 10 all the time, and sometimes below that. Mason Graham may not play a sexy position, but he is considered elite, and elite players on defense can easily be game changers.

I could be wrong, but I think you (just like I used to do) have bought into a lot of hype. You should start researching the players on the top of the big boards besides Hunter and T-mac. Not saying that the two won't be as you believe, but there are always others. For instance, I'd heard it said here that they're aren't any elite pass rushers this year, but then I start researching, and that's not necessarily the case. By its very nature, there's a lot of projection going on regarding the draft, but sometimes you have to tune out the noise and research more than just the frontrunners.

I don't love Mason Graham at 2-3 where i expect we pick at the moment but if we trade down or pick at 7-8 i do like him.  Also could move on from Ashawn Robinson and save 4 million to spend somewhere else if took a him.
