I hope we start Dalton after the bye just to see all the Bryce folks go full meltdown.

why is that important?   I hope Bryce continues to get better so we can focus on edge and WR in the draft.

He's not getting better. The defense is playing better. He is the same he has always been. It's not going to be any better.

I'm fine with starting him to confirm that. It's just ridiculous that everyone is acting like he is improving when his stats are literally the same they have always been.

People happy he can win at all when there should be more concern that his ceiling is 1TD/200yd even against the Giants.

Apparently noticing that Bryce is getting a little bit better and hoping that he can turn into a decent QB is being a fanboy and you're saying that he's headed for canton.

People love to overreact about imagined overreactions.

His future is the next Jake from State Farm guy.  I imagine he's going to stay in the League for 3-4 more years and that's it.  Beyond his rookie contract he'll catch on some place else as a backup for a few years and then hang them up realizing he's never going to start again.

My thought at this time:

Bryce is now our(overpriced) bridge QB. He could surpass this label (yeah,no) but it’s a huge upgrade from fringe practice squad fodder that he showed up until last week.

If he keeps this level of play up, Andy is now expendable at the end of the season and we can focus on resigning Horn.

The haul of Coker, Sanders and X. If all three end up as legit starting NFL players… along with all the other starters Dan found this offseason… and having built a top 5 o line… Crown him. Those 3 doing what they’re doing now also makes Thielen expendable as well.

This positivity is sparked after having beat the 2 worst teams in the NFL, so I’m trying to remain guarded.

When he delivers a decisive victory, I might change my mind on Bryce. These last second victories versus the bottom of the League teams isn't very awe inspiring to me.  Yes, it's great to actually get some Ws, but it's also puzzling to see it changing the minds of some people. Hopefully Canales see this for what it is, extremely average game management and not QB play that's going to elevate this squad to new levels of success as he continues to build for the future.

Understand that I am not suggesting that we have only one option or that Bryce young is the future---It seems people on discussions boards are all black or all white--most of this is gray, but they showed his (albeit a small sample) stats before and after the benching on TV--and there was improvement---and the defense was not on the field--at the time--so you make some statements that are nice talking points, but not based on fact.  I realize you felt the need to pound your chest, but if we are going to discuss players, be truthful and not emotional, especially when you make statements to support your assumption.  There is no doubt that Bryce has been releasing the ball sooner, throwing it downfield more, and going through his progressions with more confidence.  While I realize a defense gives the QB more opportunities and better field position, all QBs have defenses.  My attempt is not to praise or belittle, but to look for truths that will help us/me see the direction this club will go.  If the experts thought he was not improving or that he was done, they would not play him the rest of the season as you suggest.  There are 52 other players on this roster, and if you lose them and hurt their stats by proving a pointless point about your QB, you demonstrate that you do not know how a team operates.

Could Bryce improve?  It is possible--regardless of how certain you are now.  Can he improve enough?  I doubt it, but I have seen stranger things happen.  Yes, your opinion is widely accepted, but there is no need to makes unsubstantiated statements or embellish his stats.  In the past 2 games, he is showing statistical improvement--they showed the graph on TV.  The after was not great, and the before was terrible.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
