Canalas Sucks

Oh I’m just being fun about it. A bit indifferent on Canales right now. Some concerns but nothing screaming red flag quite yet. I’d like to see us beat the Giants in Deutchland.

I think Canales needs to hire an OC.  He should 100% be focusing on HC duties.  Reality is, Canales is a super green OC/playcaller.....and it's not the time for him to be double dipping and being young and not very good at 2 jobs.

I don’t think Idzik is that guy and he’s not going anywhere, so we may have to see how DC can develop just like the young players are this year. He’s shown some good here and there but it’s inconsistent — especially his 3rd down and RZ play calls. Gotta just see it through, I think we’ve got Canales as a play caller through next season. So we’ll see how he can progress.

I will say that the entire team seems to be still buying in. They played hard yesterday and that's a welcome sight. I'm also happy they managed to hang the title of worse team in the league around the Saints neck. I love that part the most. Now I know it's only temporary and we will still finish in dead last most likely but it will be fun while it lasts.

this the Panthers.

so what would be the worst case scenario? Bryce hangs around.  We win like 2 more games.   Bryce still clearly sucks and isn't a NFL QB.  We do however manage to win ourselves out of the Ward, Sanders, etc sweepstakes.   We go into next season with some pointless QB battle of Bryce Young, some Joe Flacco type and some practice squad type player.

We could still get ahead of NE, TEN, NYG, LVR, and NO.

This Giants game will be a momentum shifter for the season — if we lose it’s looking like a top-3 pick and we’re a cellar squad. Win, we should have a tad bit of cred starting to build up which I find more important than getting a top pick in this meh class. The best teams never truly tank/the bottom falls out. They maintain competence and appeal to play for, may end up with a higher pick on occasion and they get a QB to insert into a nice situation. Hoping we can get back to at least a modicum of that idea.

I don't think there's a qb in this coming draft that's going to help the Panthers next season. But they will get more competition, they have to. I'm not concerned where the competition comes from honestly as I'm not seeing anyone that will change the teams fate again next season. If they trade Young they will need 3 qb's next season. Getting a starter and a backup that will allow them to compete is a fantasy idea and not based in reality. I'm no Young homer but you need at least 1 qb to be a backup. I'm not afraid the team sticks with him as a starter unless they can't do any better. If they cannot do better then I will start to worry.

Any progress is better than none at all.

Part of why I want to see Plummer play if/when BY is benched again. Let's see if he's backup material or not in a real game scenario. Who knows, maybe he balls out, most likely not. Either way, we evaluate and move on or he's our next backup QB. It's time this team got serious about the QB position.

They do not have a choice but to rethink the position. They've got 2 bad backups on the roster and thats it. They both are playing for a job.

I had an "argument" with a childhood buddy that I used to have psl's with.  He swears if young keeps improving they are just going to roll with him next year and let dalton walk and have plummer as the backup.  I said A)Dave is already done with BY and he is going to get traded and B)if by some strange miracle bryce keeps improving this is a 0.0% chance that they dont bring in competition for Bryce all things considered.

I still think without a shadow of a doubt Young is done in Charlotte, he simply cannot run the offense canales wants to do

Youngs fate here is in his own hands. He's fighting for a backup role somewhere and is looking like he's the best this team has at the moment.  Let that sink in for a second. So if the team is done with him then they will be signing 3 qb's in the offseason.

I think they draft a dude for sure, they need a young kid on the roster that has talent that hopefully can be developed.  Rolling into 2025 with just 2 or 3 vets isnt going move any needle.  And looking at the free agent list.......woof

It's not a good time to need qb's.
