Richard Marshall signs tender *NOT*

typically they will go for less than the advertised amount if traded after signing the tender, this is my only concern. our run D is already suspect and he is a good tackler.

Only if we are trying to get rid of him, which I do not believe the Panthers are. I'd say we are pretty firm with a 2nd rounder(hopefully a high one), which I am not sure why so many people on here are so comfortable with that.

I'd be all for trading him if it means securing a good DT/DE prospect in the second. Addressing WR and DT/DE in the 2nd round > keeping Marshall and hoping you get lucky that a WR falls.

I think we could cover his loss, Munnerlyn will be better, plus we could address CB in the 3rd. Hudson is projected to be better in our defense. FS will be fair game this season and I would imagine the loser will have some time at CB.

Exactly. I'd be alright if we traded him if we had someone to replace him but we don't. Munnerlyn is a pretty good #3, but wouldn't be good at #2. Most of the time he covers someone he draws a penalty too.

Captain was a rookie...lot of learning. IMO, he displayed a lot of things that I was more impressed w/ than Marshall. I think I even recall NFL network breaking down Captain on Fitzgerald......Captain has work but he looks to have a ceiling just as high as Marshall appears to have.

If Munnerlyn sucked so bad at CB2, I'm curious why they put him there in nickel situations and moved Marshall to CB3 (nickel)

The concern with Cpt is run support/tackling. Marshall's coverage is OK, but his tackling is top notch, which is crucial in running downs in the Cover 2.

Neither Marshall or Munnerlynn are starting CB material.

Marshall is an ideal nickleback. He's tough on shorter routes and a great tackler. Isn't that great against big recievers. We drafted Sherod Martin to get a big body on the outside.

When injuries set in Martin went back to safety and now I don't know where he'll end up. This would be the question I would ask Hurney or Fox if they were taking calls. It's the kind of question only they could answer.

If we had replacement I'd be cool with trading him but we don't. He needs to stay for us to be competitive.
