It's clear Canales works better with veteran QBs than he does young QBs who need 4 to 5 years to mature. Load him up with a Delhomme, Warner and Garoppolo type QB room and you'll likely see a better result.

Use the early draft to strengthen the run defense at DL, LB and SS.

It’s clear by a sample size of one in Bryce? Lol not buying it. The only young QB he has worked with is Bryce for half a season while he is also trying to be a HC for the first time. Maybe Bryce is just not cut out to be a starting QB, especially one on a limited roster like ours.

I agree, Bryce is about the only significant rookie Canales has worked with.  He didn't work with Wilson at Seattle, not sure if any other rookies are really worth mentioning.

I just don't see if from Sanders from a traits perspective. I just don't see any part of his game that screams elite QB at the next level. The college and NFL games are just different beasts. It doesn't always translate and I'm not seeing what translates with this one. For the record, I said the same things about Bryce Young. Honestly, if his last name was Jones or Smith I don't even think he'd be in the conversation.

My thing with Sanders is that he doesn't have elite athleticism, and to be honest he is not a big guy. Sure, he can put on a few, what I'll call, pseudo pounds like Bryce did, but he's not a naturally big guy. Within that same vein, he's not as strong either. And it's not like he's showed so much more than Ward. If his name wasn't Sanders, he probably wouldn't even be in contention for a first round pick.

Sanders is the same height as Mahomes and only 9 pounds lighter. His weight and size are in line and he operates well from the pocket. He doesn’t have a cannon but his arm is solid. He looks to be the most NFL ready, but people were also saying that about Young so who knows….

Worst case scenario is Cam Ward busts and we're terrible. So, basically a neutral move.

Pretty much. We really shot ourselves in the dick by the massive trade up to take a bust. Drafting a bust in the 1st round hurts but it doesn't kill you. Trading multiple firsts along with other draft picks and your #1 WR for a bust is what kills you.

I wouldn't call Washington State exactly "no name college". They're not powerhouse but they're a solid program.

He started at Incarnate Word which I think is the no name he was talking about. Which I love, dude has been playing CFB a long time at different levels of talent around him and succeeded everywhere. The NFL is finally swinging back after having a QB happy decade and I think he fits the mold of what will be successful
