hope Chubba will come back at a decent price.  RB market won't give you what he wants, but we can give him some and maybe he likes Canales and the opportunity to grow here.  Using him with Brooks gives both the option to cut their load and last longer in the NFL.

A two headed RB monster behind our line is a recipe for success

David Montgomery‘s new contract is two years 18 mil Chuba should receive something similar to that

Probably right. I was hoping we could just cut Sanders and give him the 6 million we save by that but he may be playing himself out of that. Really need to know what we have with Brooks

In those other years he wasn’t coming off a significant knee injury.  I want him to be out there too, but I’m not trying to see him do a Thomas Davis impersonation.

If he was a vet or had 3 years of full playing time in college, it would be different, I'd lean more on the side of caution.  But this is someone who now over the last 4 years, has really only played in games for one of them as he had 51 combined carries his first two years in college.

If he wants to reach his potential, he needs reps and he needs them this year, he can't miss another year without meaningful game snaps.

The knee is structurally sound at this point being a year out from injury and today's tech/rehab capabilities.  Sure his lack of game shape could lead to pulled muscles or something, but it's not going to put him at risk of a more serious injury to give him 10-15 carries right out of the gate.

Also, we need see what he's got, to know if he's going to be able to handle a 3 down role next year before the offseason.  Because if he can, then we shouldn't be re-signing Hubbard as he's earned a decent contract from someone next year.

We can't give that out to a guy who will end up being a backup to someone on a rookie deal, it's a place we can save money to spend elsewhere for a few years, as we could get a much cheaper backup option in free agency or even draft someone else in like the 5th round to be his backup and really save money at the position.

5 to 10 touches a game until mid December then 10 to 15 for the rest of the way.

I would lower expectations on the 10 to 15. Chuba is barely getting 20 touches a game. Unless DC magically starts running the ball more (like he said he would), I don't expect Brooks to get to 10 to 15 carries (other than an unexpected chuba injury).

To give him this many touches would mean we’ve basically benched Chuba.  We aren’t running the ball 25-30 times a game.

I understand the point you’re making about his limited playing time, but he’s not going to come in and get more carries than Hubbard.  It’s just not gonna happen.

I’m not worried about re-signing Hubbard.  After they got burned on the Miles Sanders contract I don’t see them doling out big bucks for Chubs.

This team learned the hard way that you can never have enough quality running backs.

Veteran RBs make excellent depth, as long as they don't break the bank.

Chub may choose to go somewhere he can be the starting RB.  If a team even offers him a starting spot.

We, as a team, would be fools to ride Brooks as a bell cow, into the ground.  Running backs are the one of the most injured positions in the NFL.

There is certainly good reasons to retain Chub as long as he doesn't demand a contract that is higher than fair.

Either way,  whether he stays or.goes, doesn't matter to.me, other than we'd have to draft another RB.

2nd Rd pick he better ball the fug out.

Don't forget he was the 1st RB off the board.

He won't get many carries at first.  I like his potential though even if it was a dumb decision to draft him where we did including his recovery time.
